Unpainted is fine. Power coat would just get chipped anyway.

What length bolts will be needed (sorry if mentioned above). I have an ARB Sahara Winch Bar on my 1998 LX470.

Did ARB include bolts with your bumper? Is your bumper like the LoudLX's first pic in post #232 (https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series...overy-bracket-group-buy-12.html#post6035077)?

Or let me know what is mounted under your existing bolts, thickness wise, left and right side, and I'll figure out what length is needed. My new FRB2 bracket is 1/2" (~12.5mm) thick).

Yes, mine is the same or very similar to Loud's first picture.

The recovery hook on the right is about 28 mm thick, while the tie down plate and washer (on the bolt) on the left are about 14 mm thick.

The bolts on both sides measure up as an 80 mm M14x1.5mm thread section. For some reason though the right hand bolts have a 22 mm head, while the left have a 19 mm head and washer. The bolts from the left side also have a shank with a slightly reduced diameter. The left hand side bolts are just screwed in further, so I assume 80 mm bolts would be fine for mounting your new FRB2 brackets.

I would prefer to use a new set of bolts, if the cost (including shipping) isn't prohibitive, so that they match, and because the old ones are a bit "used" as you can see. Of course I could probably source the bolts locally, but I know how hard it can be to buy small quantities of high tensile bolts, so I'll just go with what you can supply if it makes sense once we get the weights of everything and can work out the total cost including shipping to Australia.

RoderickGI: I'll let you know ASAP.

BTW: What's with the twine?

You have rocks and mountains, we have deserts and locusts (swarming grasshoppers). We are having another bad year for them now.

The nylon string is holding a plastic flywire bug catcher in front of the radiators and behind the grill, so that I don't overheat the engine if I get stuck in a swarm, and I can clean the little kamakazies off the truck much easier.

It has been on the truck for seven years and about 60,000 Km so far. I put it on prior to driving around Australia. Not bad for a temporary job. Well, not a commercial job anyway. :)

I wondered if someone would ask about it.

Do you or when are you going to start the list for that first batch. I'm looking for a mirror set for my LC!

I'd like a mirrored set as well. Would you consider a nickel plated option? The finish on my Viking recovery hitch looks brand new after a year and a half of being exposed to the elements... the nickel finish has held up extremely well. Not sure how it would affect the final costs, but may be worth looking into.

Dan,

Thanks for taking the time and offering this. I'm in for one made for the ARB Combination Bar. Any chance of these shipping before 2011?

I bet a few of us would purchase your oba version II when it is developed.:hhmm:

I'll be heading down to my fab guy tomorrow to get him rolling. Then over to the PC guys to see if I can get a good deal on powder coating. I would sure hope the whole process would be done within 2-weeks...or at least the first batch.

Yes...I would hope to be shipping in around 2-weeks...

I've got another idea on that front that, if it works, would hopefully make the components less complicated to produce. But its going to take some time!

I'm down for two front recovery points powdercoated black please!

Dan,

I am down for a mirrored set. Raw is fine. I can rattle can em. This is the cheapest thing I have bought yet for my cruiser.

My bumper is like louds however I do not have the hook installed on PS. I have the enclosed tie down like on DS of rodericks bumper on both sides. Not sure how that happened.

Thanks for doing all this legwork. I really appreciate it.

Mike

Spresso, looks like there has been a lot of interest in these. Do you have a master list, or you just going off this thread? Vote for finish: whatever.

When I finally get them in hand I'll post up a for sale ad in Classifieds with a link posted on this thread. Sometime before the next ice age I have hopes of getting a little website off the ground...

I'm also in for a set and would prefer PC. Thanks.
