I posted awhile back about how the Ironman recovery points were positioned too high to be utilized with the OEM bumper. I’m still hanging onto them and still plan on passing them along to a Mudder at some point, but I want to get a replacement solution in place before I let them go. Looking for input/ideas on the following possible solutions:
Solution #1
Find a company that makes front recovery points that fit a ‘99 LX 470 that clear the front bumper. Anyone?
Drawbacks: I’m not aware of any that do.
Solution #2
Have someone re-draw the Ironman recovery points in CAD, dropping the recovery points 1.5-2” lower to clear the front bumper and have my buddy’s fabrication shop make them.
Drawbacks: altering a design that involves the forces involved in vehicles recovery is sketchy. Need someone who can help with the CAD part.
Solution #3
Install a front mounted Class 3 hitch.
Drawback: I’ve done the least research on this option but what little I’ve done I can’t seem to find anyone that makes one? Also, I’d have to cut the front bumper to make this solution work…
