Hi!

Apologize in advance if this post is in the wrong section. Have loved the land cruiser as long as I can remember.. lurking this site off and on for quite a few years. After saving our pennies we are happy to slide our still-running-strong 4runner ('05 v8) to DD duties and welcome home a new-to-us '15 cruiser as family road trip, camping and when-we-need-3rd-row vehicle.

A few questions:
1. Friendly Toyota Dealer for parts? From lurking in the past, Beno and CruiserDan seemed to be the go-to.. is that still the case? I see Beno is mod of this forum..
2. Are any of you using drawers as your kitchen/lunch box? We are already in love with the tailgate for lunches and afternoon coffee stops, but access to the stove and assorted bits could use a little help.. not sure if drawers are ideal for that, or more for tools, etc. Do the drawers slide all the way out easil
3. Mods order of priority? I'm an offroad newb, but have grand visions of taking the family around the west, camping, etc.. we wont be looking for obstacles, but we'd like to explore CO, UT, etc and hit up the backcountry sites.. ive already dented up my sidesteps so sliders should probably be first.. how are the stock skidplates? ive dragged the spare tire and scraped the rear bumper a bit so a bumper is always ultra-cool (plus a place to hang the poo-bags in a trasharoo), but wondering if it would be more prudent to protect the underside first. we have a week in CO planned next week so will learn more there for sure.. spending a few days in the Ouray area and another few days in the Breck area..

Anyway, grateful to be a member of this forum.. hope to continue learning and contribute as I'm able!

-Matt

Here's a few pics of our first trip with it.. Western South Dakota with another family in their Jeep.

welcome Matt -

for sure I'd do sliders, ease of access and protection - there are a few options now as well.
it looks to have BFG's ? Tires and a light lift make the skid a bit less needed perhaps ?

Bumpers are nice but spendy... actually it's just a very slippery slope !

cheers

Thanks for the welcome, RS6tofj80!

Yes, BFG's were the first change.. agree on it being a slippery slope!

Welcome to the gang, I'd do sliders and a lift next, these stock Tupperware bumpers are tough as S**T!

Welcom to the 200 section. Excellent first post, you obviously know we love pictures!

+1 on the sliders. Cheap insurance compared to bent rocker panels. if you aren't ready to drop the coin on a lift, you can install the factory Toyota 100 spacers in the front. It will get rid of the rake and level out the truck.
You'll be amazed where these things can go with decent tires and the minimum of protection.
welcome to the sickness.

And if you wreck them, then you can do new bumpers :D

Welcome

My 2 cents for early essentials:
1. Remove Running Boards
2. AT's (You've done that)
3 & 4. Sliders/Suspension

5. Personally? DRAWERS. Sooo incredibly useful, unless you need the full third row for kids.

After the above, it's really individualized based on needs and intended use.

Great photos, especially for a first post. If you've already dented the running boards and dragged the tail end, you're obviously really using your 200! Common parts can just be ordered off Amazon. Specialty parts can be ordered on-line through any of the OEM parts places linked in the MUD vendors listings, as can aftermarket fun stuff. Spend some time in the vendors section to see what's there and support them.

I just installed drawers for "The loneliest Roadtrip" for work, we cook pretty much every meal we eat on the road and the drawers are great to hold our induction cooktop, grill, other gear, and the ARB drawers even fit those mountainsmith cubes pretty well. So for us order of operations were and are:

1. AT Tires (done)
2. Remove Factory steps (done and don't forget to put the bolts back in the frame!)
3. Drawer system (done)
4. Wire fridge (done)
5. Sliders (soon)
6. HAM / CB install (less soon)
7. Lift (BP-51? Further away still)
8. Front and Rear bumper (distant future)

So far with what I've done this think is the greatest roadtrip, overland truck I've had the pleasure of driving. Congrats on the great choice!
