73 or older wanted

we are in southern calif and my 14 year old son is looking for a fj-40 to build up as his own. we are willing to go out of state for a good deal. the day he told me he wanted his own 40 was one of our proudest monents . Thanks

Yeah, I'm looking for just the body, don't really want to spend much. I just bought a mechanically perfect 84 with 119k original, OME lift, shocks, Warn 8274 and winch bumper, all for 1k. But it has a rough body, if I can find someone looking to get rid of one for a reasonable price then I'll get it, if not no big deal, I'll keep it as is!

Thanks for your repy, good luck on your sale!

Oops, Forget to mention...

I also installed alarm with keyless entry, to make the rig more "user friendly", but she still wanted a van

No kidding!!! I've been watching and bidding on this one, hoping it wouldn't hit front page news.

Get over it.

With something like 400 million members of ebay you can figure that just about everybody who even thinks about buying an 80 has seen that one.

It's a big bad world now isn't it?

There's really nothing to get over. I new some yahoo would post it on every board he frequents. But a guy can hope, can't he? Besides I'm not the first to make a comment like that. Heck I've probably done it before.

Something that bothers me about this guy though, is he has several 80s with low miles. I'm talking 60k and less. He offered to sell it to me and end the auction early (again nothing to get over), but I noticed in the pictures that under the fenders everything is burgandy. Which made me think it's had paint work, and he states it hasn't. I asked him for a close up picuture, and he said all the 80s are like that except the blue 80s. Hmm. Sounds a little strange, because this is the first I've seen like that. Plus he wants $25k for it. I little more than I want to spend on a 80. I asked him about his others, he gave the same answer "oh low to mid $20s at least.

Thanks for the pep talk about our cynical world though, I'm not quite sure how I've made it this far.

Can anyone offer a reference for this dealer (positive or negative), or maybe elaborate on the condition (ie...the apparent paint work issue brought up byJSB).

It seems he has sold a bunch of cruisers to happy folks on Ebay, but I'm a huge skeptic of on-line car buying.

I'm with you. I'm not saying it has had paint work, because he said it hasn't. I just question why the plastic underneath the fenders is painted. Can anyone provide any logic to that besides over spray or something. Oh and to share a little more info. An older man owned it from the get go in Tx. Then it was sold to a woman that apparently moved north. She began to have to travel more, and sold it for a car that got better gas mileage. At least that's what he told me. As far as his feed back is concerned, it's seems great.

price

right now i can afford around $3000 i know its not much but if i can find something we could start with over time i can put more money into it thanks

again, more details, $3000 could buy a running rusty rig or a good body and frame with no motor

I know you are looking for a 73 or older, but just in case nothing shows up, I have a lead on a 79 rolling frame, engine, tranny, and title, with 2 month old Colorado emissions test.

Fort Collins, CO

Price dropped as well! $10,500. She's in nice condition. Driven basically only on the highway from Chicago to Upper Michigan.
