if gregb was interested in doing some home work, instead of waiting for the answer to land in his lap [or computer] Im sure he would of done some research along the way, rather than try and disprove what he was being told, while he thought the initial mod was "it" for him. The fact he has researched nothing, and continues to ask questions online, and out of context is proof enough of his intent.

By trying out ones ideas in real life experiences. If they work as desired the idea was a success (whether the one coming up with the idea is an "expert" or not).
I'm excited! This is probably my BEST thread ever. I'm just some dumb-ass 4-wheeler that came up with an idea using existing parts that took my 100 to another level on the trail and without any on-road sacrifice. The kicker? I have some xxxx-xxx hot-shot telling everyone my idea and lack of knowledge accomplshes pretty-much nothing...though a simple few pictures shows who is credible. To me....THAT defines "legitimate".

Well, that's pretty easy actually. I look at what people propose and decide for myself if it is legitimate. I don't want a fabricator. This is a hobby for me and I enjoy doing my own mods.

It works, the mod's done, and for people to discredit the success when they haven't done it themselves....shows......? GregB doesn't need to "question" me. He's already collected data about my mod and is considering it. What he's quesitoning (I'm guessing) are all the negative comments about my success AND evaluating other ideas others bring to the table so hee can decide what to do.
We're still waiting for other UZJ100 pictures. No PhotoShop enhanced Shed Guy.

WTF is your pic "supposed" to show? You can do all the web math you want to show "travel" but if anyone has the patience to read through this hubris there's no way to tell you've done anything other than fit a N74-L shock on the rear of a 100. It also seems like you really don't understand the limiting purpose of lowering your bumpstops and that removing them or shortening them isn't necessarily a good thing or that it automatically gives you more "travel". Don't be so offended by Darren's points because at least they make logical sense. Your rants of "who cares" don't do anything to help a tech forum.
Why don't you measure the travel? I can already get the compressed and extended numbers of the shock. Are you fully compressing it AND fully extending it? How about posting one of those pics with a tape measure? How hard can this be?

John, I was never negative about it. Just explained it for what it is do that people understand what they gain and what they loose. For you, the extra droop is what you wanted, however by not explaining the full extend of the mod, one would be remis in informing people of exactly what happend with the mod. I think deep down that is what both Darren and me was trying to do. Hell, I started this thread to give you the info on the fitment and the measurements.
What you did is not magic. More droop is more droop. Longer shock does that. What Darren is saying more droop is nice, but so much nicer if you get full travel as well. If one takes on the roll of originator and cheering squad for a certain mod, I feel that one must understand it and explain the pro's and the cons. You can not conveniently disregard the cons just because the pros are what you wanted.
Darren works for a shop in Australia and the dynamics of how they use their vehicles is way different from us. We can be happy that they share how they do things. Although Greg thought it took to many posts for him to explain awhat they do.

You'll be happy....this is my last post on this thread. Here's a couple of keen points front some posts on this thread:
1. Droop, yes the extention has helped to keep all the tires down on the ground. It's increased RTI.
2. Bumpstop lowered, yes we kept them on and per your suggestion we carefully checked for travel stoppage so the shock doesn't get wrecked. The bumpstops when mushed-in a tad stop the travel RIGHT before the shock does. It's really close so we are getting full shock travel improvements.
3. Travel...there's one "secret" reason I keep asking for pics from the Aussies, and I 've touched on it already. They say that "their" way offers an improvement in travel over the N74L/Bumpstop method? I'd luv to see this. Why? Because even with your smaller rear bumper let alone a stock one or the like...there is no more travel available over what I have in the 100 now unless you do some other major things (like cutting, or refitting).
On compression the stuffed wheel rubs even your bumper! If there was another .25" compression to be gained the bumper would stop the wheel due to severe rubbing. So then...if you get more travel than my setup, what do you do? Cut your bumper?
Maybe the bumpers they fit out there will not rub, though I'd luv to see pictures of it. Your bumper is the most aggressive and I can tell you that there's no more room for added travel unless you re-work something else. The wheel stuffs up and rearward all the way to the bumper.

John, we dont use the Slee bumper here, and it isnt a toyota part, so we havent struck the tyre rubbing issue you may be alluding to, with what you mentioned.
not a cruiser I know, but the same shocks fit in front of the diff, with the same distance, same basic suspension set up, similar rear springs, panhard rods close to same length, and same shocks on mine are the longer versions we mentioned earlier in this thread, so RTI would be the same for the rear, on an Intended For Shopping front end, but an 80 with these shocks, 4 bump stop spacers, adj panhard rods would have the same travel as this pic, all pretty straight forward really.

If it makes any difference I went wheeling in my 100 series 3 times over 2 weeks with the N74Ls with only the spring retainer and no bumpstop installed and it worked fine..

The 100 rear travels the same as the patrol really, with those shocks fitted, and some bump stop spacers, and a pin to eye convertor at the top of the rear is what is needed to fit them.
Our standard Bilstein premium shock is slightly longer than the OME shock John has used in the rear of his, and the Comp shock ftted to my patrol, is the same "extra travel" option shock we use in the 100.
