I’m not trying to hate, but mine lasted about a month. I pulled it apart and figured it broke because of the other set of holes I drilled too low. It wasn’t the case. The aluminum casting is very porous and just broke. The two holes have to support a lot of tension from the spring. I even tried to Tig weld more meat on it, however I figured it wouldn’t work since it was cast.

I ended up using a long bolt and drilled a hole and rerouted the wires. I think a better option would be to make a hollow threaded rod with bus on each end. Then the wire and still be routed factory style.
Your saying its cast aluminum looks like machine aluminum part to me at least the second batch that @NLXTACY posted a pic of unless the first batch and second are different.

Yeah not the FMS block. The casting on the post itself is very porus. Another option might be to compress just the spring in a vice and heat it up so it loses some of its tension.

I’m gonna research this a bit. I have another mirror to mess with. Maybe I’ll do this to the good mirror as well to compare 🤔

Do I need to take the door panel off to unplug the electrical to get the mirror off for this job? Or is there another way?

I did both of mine by taking the mirror out and unscrewing the side mirror.. Unplugged the electrical from the mirror motor then drilled and installed while the post was still on the truck. Used a big C-clamp to compress the spring. Wasn’t fun, but didn’t have a vise handy to compress it otherwise. Hope that helps

Upon further investigation it looks like the PO “fixed” the sms at some point and that has hindered my ability to not remove the door panel for the electrical disconnect. There appears to be a few extra screws added! I went back to the tape fix for the fms for now.

Next up from the goody bag that arrived from the anodizer…
Been out of stock for a minute but got plenty plenty more after filling back orders.

What percentage of shakers become floppers? If I have the shake am I guaranteed to eventually flop? If my shake eventually becomes a flop, will this fix shake as well as the flop?

Nope. The shake is due to the adjuster mechanism breaking or working loose. The flop is from the large spring pushing past the "ears" on the pivot post. One can't cause the other.
So what IS the fix for the shakes?

I have my mirror dissaembled, but I can't get the wit's end piece to slide over the shaft, I'm going to figure out a way to ream out the wit's end part or grind/sand down the shaft to get it to fit.

Any ideas?
I assume the fix should go over the shaft snugly but still removable. If I press this on it's not coming off...
