Have you ever used the Schluter system for showers/tile? Love that stuff totally water tight.

Never used it. Poured a concrete base and lined with rubber. Then more concrete and backer board with sealer is pretty cost effective for my basement shower that won’t see a lot of action. That system looks slick, but expensive too?

Yeah makes sense - tried and true method for a limited use shower. It definitely is more expensive but you can save a little by using standard Sheetrock and no need for the red sealer. Here’s some projects I’ve done if you’re interested:

No major updates other than getting pulled over and ticketed for not coming to a complete stop.

Is that a bullet hole in the driver’s side of your hood?

Its a rock chip in the windshield. Was there when I acquired the vehicle. :meh:

Took Ethel’s top off. Looking to cut off the drop hitch job the PO welded on in favor of a traditional receiver hitch. Don’t plan on towing but want to put a basket back there for a camping trip coming up in Aug/Sept.

Do me a favour bud can you measure the distance from the ground at the rear at the tire to the top of the wheel opening? Im curious to see where mine will be sitting. i think i estimated 35 3/4"

Dropped the windshield for fun and to check for rust. Minimal rust and the cushion is in great shape. I’ve got a back up OEM cushion just in case. New OEM sleeves and knobs will replace the broken off pass side knob. Found some treasures too.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. In June/July 2019 I added the mini truck PS setup. By far the best modification I’ve done. In March I replaced the crispy old weatherstripping with City Racers product. Very happy with the quality.

Hooked up with Classic Cruisers for the period correct hood/windshield latches. Lucy Rona joined our family in May. Front axle rebuild, new TRE’s, Bilstein shocks, brake caliper rebuild and pads done this summer. Took Ethel to CO for some camping.

In August this 6/85 60 followed us home. Rescued from a Las Vegas storage facility.

@cjmoon did the hardtop refresh. The PO painted the cap black and a tree had fallen, cracking beyond repair. Used cap, new sections of drip rail fabricated, s*** loads of sandpaper and too many hours to count, but very happy with the turnout.

Can’t wait to see Ethel bundled up for the winter in her new top!

Wish I’d found this thread sooner. Probably would have inspired me to get a 40 a lot sooner!

Flat lander, my guess is you’ll get a lot of belt squeak from your ps belt once you get into some rocky off road terrain. Every time your front tires get up against a rock( even when going straight forward) there will be pressure trying to stall the ps pump, and you have so little belt wrap on the ps pulley that the pump will easily stall, with the belt just squeezing away. Your ps pulley should be at least 50 percent wrapped with the belt, ie the belt should go from crank pulley to ps pulley only.

Flat lander, nice to see you have one of my Holley kits, and one of my 3 into 2 into 1 positive interference headers. Hopefully the Holley has one of my float bowl baffle and chimney kits. Also, Holley still makes the dual stage high altitude power valve, they totally take care of the high altitude (mountain wheeling) issues- - - you’d have a screaming hot rod at 8,000 ft.

No issues so far. You can’t see but I’ve got another alt and bracket on passenger side just need to rewire but haven’t felt the need to since it’s not squealing.

When you are wheeling in rocky terrain, sidewall of tire rubbing up against a rock (as in all day long) creates the same sensation in the steering system as you turning the steering wheel to full lock, which always makes the belt squeal, sooooo your belt squeals all day long in the rocks. Remedy, fully wrap the belt around the ps pulley, or don't go wheeling in rocks- - -easy deal.
