Say guys. How to I remove and reinstall fender flares on fj80 without tearing them up? Thanks!

First step would be to download the factory service manual. Second step would be to read it. Third would be to buy a door panel removal tool.

Big YES on having a Factory Service Manual. Can get access from Toyota for 15 bucks for 2 days to their info.. Saving it for future use is a huge headache.. It took me 2 days to get all my stuff for my 91 and 92 and 93.. but worth it in my opinion. Search the forum.. theres a lot of threads about flares.. also. was your rig in a salt area? that will cause more issues if so..

Remove by smacking into big rocks! It worked for me....

Okay. First things first. Remove your mud flaps. Next, Get inside the rear cargo area and remove the bottom section of interior trim panel on both sides. the panels are held on with a bunch of plastic plugs like a door panel. I'd suggest buying an interior removal tool set from harbor freight. Now fish your arm up inside the quarter panel toward the second row seat belt retractor there is a 10mm but or maybe it was 8mm nut, can't remember. Then there should be one more nut to remove in almost plain view. There is a bolt in the outside bottom rear that holds it to the body and aside from the mudflap bolts that's it. Should pop off its only held on by a plastic push pin at that point. As far as the doors go. I believe there is a top nut a bottom bolt and a push pin holding them on. Hope this helped.

Good info. Sub'd for gasket install

There are 3 types of flares depending on your year 80. Undo the bolts by the mud flap and the front corner bumper. Then remove the corner lamp and take a 10mm and remove the 3 nuts. Reach your hand back in there. You may need to come in from the mid fender hole too

The 95-97 are very delicate to remove. The mounts on the flare are plastic and tear very easy.

I just reinstalled gaskets and flares on mine. Two sided adhesive. Take your time, It's not hard. I put the sticky side on my flare first, then mounted the flare with the hardware, test fitting it first. Once I was good, I pushed them on and tightened the hardware. Took about 2 hours going slowly for them all.
