Fender flares

about five years ago I thought I would help out the repaint process of my 95 cruiser by taking off the fender flares. I’ve owned this cruiser since 1997 and decided it was time to paint, however, while taking off the original fender flares I busted the part that slides into the clips or post that are on the body. I tried to put them back in place using 3M tape and other methods and well it just doesn’t work.

What can I do to put fender flares back on? I like the way they look when they’re on the vehicle. Lol thanks in advance.

If you're referring to the retaining slots on the flares, you can epoxy them back together, if you have enough of the material. Or, you can epoxy the clips onto the flares directly; it's just harder to get them located properly this way. That's one of the reason Toyota designed the removable clips. The other, of course, is that if they're glued on and break, it's harder to replace them.

I just repaired one on my 95', PO must have clipped it on something and broke a few mounting slots and then taped it back on

In my case the slots on the flare itself were only partially separated which made locating the correct position easy. I scuffed the surface with sandpaper, cleaned up with alcohol and then used JB Weld - Plastic Bonder. I also cleaned the mounting clips on the fender and added a quick shot of WD-40 to help the slots slide into position. Worked out great.

I recently lost a rear fender flare when my wheel decided to leave the chat. I've used JB Weld to repair the plastic brackets that broke on the inside of the fender flare. Luckily, I found all parts. I'm pretty confident this repair will hold.
I haven't remounted it yet, as I haven't been able to replace the plastic clips that broke. Does anyone know the part number for these plastic clips? I have an assortment of clips, but none match up.
