It starts with a piece of cardboard.

Price and more details. Are you going to have a storage area? Is that Monstaliner on your cargo area? Will they fit FJ60's? Interested in side panels.

@socallove You probably know this but there are a few variations in the cargo panels. Pre '85 (ear on LH side only), '85-'87 (ears on RH and LH side) and then '88-'90 (no ears and shorty panels).

Jason, I was aware of the ears but didn't know which year, did not know the pre 85 had ear on LH side only.
Thanks for the info!

Yes, these will have a door for you to use as storage, no point making it without maximizing your storage capacity.
I have not determine which type of latches or how many I will use on each side, if I use 2 stainless steel southco latches per side, it will cost me $180 for 4 latches alone... OUCH!!! but those are some very nice looking and high quality latches.

It was either 5/85 or 10/85 build date that the double ear came out. I know for a fact the 10/85 has double ears.

Just something to always ask the customer prior to building/shipping. You may have to explain this to a few customers, but it will help you in the long run.

Re: latches....
I say go with a practical (cheapest latch) solution to keep the price down.....
I know I don't want $90 worth of latches for a storage door that I will access once or twice a month (if that)...
A simple screw button would make more sense..
My $0.02

DZUS fasteners. Easy and quick. If they can hold sheet metal on a 300+mph dragster... They should be able to keep the doors together.

Can use a quarter or your cruiser key to operate it.

I'd suggest a no door option. The storage adds a lot of complexity and cost and I'd rather have a solid surface to mount things to and to put speakers behind. To me that storage space is cool in theory but not really practical as I dont have any interest in cutting the vertical supports or moving the tank vents and window washer fluid apparatus - especially for the amount of space you gain. The wagon gear panels were extremely stout to alleviate concerns of removing the support pieces. Rather than that, I think a well fitting, simple powder coated aluminum panel at the sub $300 a pair price point would sell well and be something that I would be interested in. Ditto for door cards.

Any interest in sharing those CAD files?

I didn't get a response so I'll squawk again. You see... if you look in the other sections (specifically the Iron Pig section) some members have put the effort in to reverse engineer components (e.g. door panels, cargo panels), then share the CAD files for the common good. Pretty rad.

I'm capable (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Fusion 360, Rhino, you name it) and mighty glad to share. I'll put in the work and broadcast them freely. Stay tuned.

The file I have right now has not been tested, that is only a rough draft, haven't cut it out yet. I'm in the middle of moving so this project have to go on the back burner for a week.

Reading my post, I sound a bit douchy. Not my intention. I also realize that as a vendor you may be reluctant to share such info. No hard feelings either way! Cheers.

Finally got some time to fine tune All the mounting holes and speaker cut out.
Per request, the first unit will have horizontal 6x9 speaker hole, it will require a little trimming.
No trimming required with vertical speaker hole, picture below looks canted but it is not. 4x4 speaker cut out is simple enough, no further mods needed.

Blanks without storage door is an option.

didn't notice you have two separate threads. the 62 has the same outline as the 60 but has the seat belt mechanism with four mounting bolts just under the seat latch. might be able to get a pict later...lc is on jack stands or I would drive it there.
