I picked up a used toybox for my 60.

I am having trouble piecing it together.

I can not seem to attach the flat part of the split case to the back of the toybox.

Howdy! Hard to tell how much interference there is. If its 1/8" or less, I would grind it down to clear. Are you sure that the Toybox is not designed for the older solid case? John

That's junk and will never work. Please send it to me for closer inspection. It could take awhile.:D I'll pay shipping.

I thought Marlin included a little jig for grinding the case a bit??? Not certain since I've been UNABLE to get my hands on a Toybox:mad:, but i think that extension holds the base of the shift rail.

Yeah, that knub houses the shift rail for the toybox.

Who is running a toybox in their 60?

Is grinding required to mount the split case?

Am I putting the piece on wrong?

PismoJim--I think he has Toybox #1

CaliCruiser.

I know Dylan(CaliCruiser) just went through this, so the memory is pretty fresh.

I want a Toybox bad and have $$ ready to go. marlin and crew have been taking their time about getting them back in stock. I'm worried that by the time they have it, my wife will have other plans for the $$.

That's how it's designed. Mine is milled for the shift rail.

You can grind it or have it milled. It doesn't take long to drop an end mill into the case and it looks a lot cleaner than hacking at it. with an angle grinder.

Thanks Fred!

I read your entire 60 build...... great stuff!

So, just have a machine shop"mill" it here?

Your lucky!

My wife would never let me buy a toy box!

A friend sold me this one on a secret "lay away" plan.

Hopefully Marlin will have them again soon.

I just used a dremel to grind mine down with a lot of test fitting. I used bolts to line the t-case housing up to the transmission and marked where the t-case housing needed to be ground. It wasn't very difficult, maybe a little tedious.

I didn't know you had to mill the split case down to get it to fit a toybox.

Before you reassemble the case I would advise drilling a hole in the Hi/low shifter arm to shorten the throw (assuming you're going to run twin sticks). Also consider rotating the arm like freds40 and I did. Here's a pic. I should have drilled a hole in the middle before I installed it.

How long is the throw without drilling the arm? 8 inches or so?

Huge, because you have the length of the arm on both the twins and the case to factor. Mine was almost completly front to back when I first mocked it up.
