hey guys have just bought a new (to me) ute!

its a '83 fj47 .... is there such a thing??
now this jigger has the big petrol donk, not diesel, is definetly a factory thing.
has nothing to even hint that it was once a diesel, no glow light, or holes where it should be, the ignition dosent turn backwards to glow it, and all other things a diesel of this age should have!

im a little confused as to what ive got, ive never heard of a fj47.
is it just a rare model?:ban:

It is kind of a Troopy I believe. Military. How about some pics?

Exported from Japan in 1967, the 40 series FJ40 (SWB) and the FJ45 (LWB) and their replacements the FJ42 and FJ47, maintained the strictly military appearance of the earlier Land Cruisers while the 40 series maintained the looks of the earlier machines but came with a choice of hard and soft tops. The hard-top version featured a two-piece tailgate and small windows on the side at the rear.

What makes you think it is a FJ47? Is it on the firewall plate? Looks like a FJ45 to me

Aussie... Nice :bang:

the reason im thinken its a 47 is because from 1981 to 84 the utes (and troopys) here are called 47s, all the ones ive seen and heard of are hj models (diesel) ive never actually seen a fj model of that age.
are they just called fj45s even at this age (1983)?
thats why im thinking its "fj47" plus i havent got it home yet to suss out all the id plates etc properly

and yes im aussie an so is it:flipoff2:

so do you want to know how much i paid for it? bearing in mind it has 60series 5spd an transfer, vacuum operated lockers front an rear and absolutly zip zero zilch rust? (a lil bit of surface rust but thats not an issue)

or would that be teasing you??

Sounds really nice I am not to sure on the years they made the 45s. It would be new to me if it is a 47. When you get it home you have to post up what the ID plate reads very curious. By the way Aussies Rock:beer::cheers:

too ezy johnny, wont be home for about 3/4wks though. its at my mates place down south an i havent got time to go pick it up yet (damn work:bang:)
so as soon as its back ile start a new thread i guess so keep your eyes open, will be in this tech section as the 45 section hardly gets replys etc!

oh yeah, thanks man, yanks rock too! like carmen electra... elisha cuthbert.... etc etc :D:flipoff2:
and the price? 3k aus....:flipoff2:

Specter off road has a Tan 1984 hj47 pick up from Nicaragua. Been featured in 98- 01 US sales brochures, so there were 47 pickups. If a HJ why not a FJ?..... But wait there is a BJ42 but no FJ42. Maybe the 47's were only diesel. All gas models remained FJ45's. Food for thought.

Cheers!
Josh

There is no such thing as an FJ47. There's an FJ45, and there's an HJ47. The HJ47 is the same as it's predecessor, the HJ45, except it has the 2H engine, which is a development from the H engine. When they went to the newer engine, in 1981, they also changed the model designation from HJ45 to HJ47 to reflect this. FJ45 kept the same 2F engine through the early 1980's, so no change in model name, FJ45 was it, end of story.

The ID plate will confirm that, I'm 100% certain. It's possible you have a truck that was originally an HJ47 and somebody replaced the 2H with a 2F engine. I suppose for lack of a better name the term "FJ47" could be used, but it was never a Toyota factory model.

Looking forward to more pictures! Posting in the 45 Owners section will be much appreciated as well.

3 K Aussie how much is that American, sounds like you got a sweet deal

$2666.90 to be exact!
gunna get a 4inch lift, 35in muddies (probly mickey t mtz's), my 400hp 350 will be put in it, diffrent front bar, loose the tub an put my flat tray on it, new roll bar, painted kawasaki green (at this stage... may find something else) and the usual other lil mods here an there. my budget is 10k for the major stuff i mentioned, which includes buying it.
will be easy enuff done as i will do 95% of it myself and my mate is gunna spray it.

oh an will loose the GAY alloys it has currantly.
with the other 45 i got with a rusted cab it has pwr str, disc brakes etc, plus the alloys and the tub on the new one i will sell to make a bit of $$s back
