Completely off topic, but if the owner of this Troopie lives on the front range in CO, I have to say this: If you are going to let your son drive it around PLEASE educate him on cruisers. :)

That's a nice looking set up, the pop roof is sweet! Who makes that pop roof-- or is it owner-made? More pictures from the inside would be much appreciated.

No idea who made the pop up roof,

Inside you have sink fridge and stove. Oh and a great colour scheme:grinpimp

The ID on the Troopy is FJ45 RV KCQ I would say the early Troopy's came FJ and BJ 45 and then the later HJ47, the 2F variant may have been dropped with the arrival of the HJ 47.

I stand corrected never seen a FJ 47 yet.

There is no such thing as an FJ47. There's an FJ45, and there's an HJ47. The HJ47 is the same as it's predecessor, the HJ45, except it has the 2H engine, which is a development from the H engine. When they went to the newer engine, in 1981, they also changed the model designation from HJ45 to HJ47 to reflect this. FJ45 kept the same 2F engine through the early 1980's, so no change in model name, FJ45 was it, end of story.

The ID plate will confirm that, I'm 100% certain. It's possible you have a truck that was originally an HJ47 and somebody replaced the 2H with a 2F engine. I suppose for lack of a better name the term "FJ47" could be used, but it was never a Toyota factory model.

Looking forward to more pictures! Posting in the 45 Owners section will be much appreciated as well.

x2 Ive never seen a properly identified "FJ47" .People make errors concerning the alpha numeral code and put it on the net. Pretty soon everyones running claiming they have proof of this mystical beast because they read it on the net:rolleyes:

Show the body id and Ill eat my words

There is also no FJ61,HJ62 or KDJ120 with 4 dr (because the 4drs make it a 125 series;)

This is however a HJ47:D

It's good to start the day with a little vindication, that's what I say :D

Looks like that truck is for sale - how much is the owner asking, out of curiosity?

The owner paid $1200 for this one a few years back and its still getting around with some improvements.
I guess a low rust one in good condition would go for $6k . They are hard to find with good bodies but on the other hand not many want a dual cab so the price hasnt gone up

I rang the dealer here in Adelaide about an 'FJ47', and there is no lisiting for it in their computer. It simply cannot exist, as the '47' was the nomenclature for the 2H, not the 2F- that is a '45', as is a ute/troopie with the H engine. Most likely, it is an Aussie creation. Aussies do tend to call troopies '47's, so likely they would simply call one with a petrol donk an FJ47, although you will find that the VIN badge and frame stamp say either FJ45 or HJ47.

Call it what you like, I say. I still call my 84 HJ47 an HJ47, despite it having a 2000 Vortec 350 in it.

Cheers,

Josh
