they are, i am talking about spring hangers for a shackle reversal.

maybe I'm missing it, why not use the existing ones made for 40's? I've got several from LCAH, I'd sell or other manufactures make 'em.

Charles, can you post some closeup pics from the front of the sill? I want to compare it to mine.

Here you go! The first picture is what you see when looking from the front of the truck towards the rear. The second picture is a top view which is normally hidden by the floor and "D" pillar. The center of the sill is basically a continuous section with the exception of the hinge area. As you can see there is a body mount captured in there as well. The back of the frame sits in the pocket in the first photo.

Now to pack this up for its trip to Paul.

What are you going to ask him to make?

Exactly what you see in my earlier post from one side to the other including mounts and tailgate hinge area.

How are you planning on re-fitting it to the truck. Where will the reattachment points be? It is really hard to tell exactly what you removed. Is it equal left and right? Will the new piece have the curved parts left and right? Base on the way the truck was put together and the way you had to take it apart, will the new piece look like it was installed at the factory? It looks like a piece I would be interested in, but not sure what it would cost and how long I would have to wait.

All that I did to remove it was drill out the factory spot welds so when I reinstall the new piece I will simply weld at the factory locations to mimic the spot welds. As for the curved section at each end, I left that there to see, and give me options, with the rear quarter panels which should also cover that area. The last thing I want is that the rear quarters and the rear sill stop with a 1/4" gap from each other! The curved up parts that fair into the "D" pillar are part of the rear sill as well and I will be instructing Paul to include that. He prefers to make the entire piece anyways.

Here's a picture of the rear of the truck showing the sill missing. That should help clear things up. The red arrows are where the row of factory spot welds are to hold the sill in place. If you examine your truck you should see the same thing. The row of spot welds continue right to the inside of the quarter panel which is why I had to open up the corners.

On my truck the drivers rear corner suffered an accident that required the removal of more material which is why the floor lip is cut off there.

I just talked with Paul. He's willing to make whatever we want for the LV but he needs an LV to copy (they are not exactly plentiful here in Central America either). I'd be willing to take mine down there but only if it's worth his and my while. I'd need to do a fair but of re-assembly to get it ready to go.

If there is something you'd like, even up to and including the entire body (yes that's right, Paul says he'd even be able and willing to make the entire body if there was sufficient interest), post up! Remember, Paul can make just about whatever you can imagine in sheet metal.

I'm in the middle of fabricating door sills for the FJ55 https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-...king-up-scuff-sill-plates-you-interested.html. Post #110 and #116 show the OEM plates and the ones I'm making up. There are pictures of others earlier in the thread that "Luke111" made up but I'm trying to stick with the OEM look here. These are the aluminum trim pieces that go over the pinch weld trim where the pinch weld trim meets at the bottom of the door opening.

Does anyone know what was done for the FJ45LV's originally? I was thinking I may as well make up a set for my LV while I am at it if it is anywhere close.

I have the original aluminum sills off my LV. They are similar to the ones shown in the pics from the 55, but a little slimmer if I recall.

The '55 has a wide side, to hide the wiring loom, and a narrow side. Is the 'LV sill plate narrower than the narrow '55 plate? Is there an inside wiring loom on the 'LV? I was always of the belief that the wiring loom ran under the truck on the 'LV.

Yes the wiring runs under on the LV. No there is no wide part of the sill. FWIR it was just a hump with enough metal on the side to screw it to the floor using small sheet metal screws, which of course were rusted and stripped out. A real PIA to get those out for being such a small item.

OK, I'll make them up like the narrow ones for the FJ55 then.

I'm going to visit Paul Pilgrim "lomusass" (the sheet metal magician) next weekend to bring the LV rear sill to get reproduced. Any other parts that I should bring?
