This is my latest cruiser project, A 1981 FJ45 troopy LHD. Hopefully the attatched pic. worked. I am having a hard time trying to decide whether to resore to origional, or to go with injected V-8, p.s. s.o.a etc. So what do you all think? give me some feedbackhttp://images.ih8mud.com/images/smilies/cheers.gif

You abroad yes?

That is B E A U T I F U L !

I would take a soft top over a hard top any day, thats like a loooooong bed 45. SWEET

Me, I am a purest.............. That is a rig that commands to be respected as such.

Well, I would put an ARB up front, OME suspension all the way around. P/S to handle 33x9.5x15 BFG's, Bigger calipers, vented rotors, braided brake lines, LED lights through out, TUFFY console, H4 head lights, HELLA horns and half doors.

Then replace every tail light, blinkers, emblems, weather strips, moldings, glass runs, windshield, wiper arms and so one. Wet sand it all out and polish it up.

I have never asked anyone on this board if they ever wanted to sell their rig. But man if you ever want to part with it put me in line, that's a true keeper in my eyes.

What ever you do, do it the best you can.

Thanks for the input .Whatever I do, I will do It right. I've always been A purist myself on other rigs, but I'm having a hard time decieding on this one, It would look so cool riding on say 37's with the top off!
I am trying to post more pics. but It won't let me. keeps saying I am beyond quota . Any ideas why?

I would say that if the decision is keeping you up at night, you should just sell it.

Just thinking of your health.

Do what YOU want to. Having something that nice is tough if your a purist and want to put some mods on. So buy another one. Mod one and keep the other one original. Thats what I've done.

OMG!!!! That is overflowing with awesome! Apparently that troopy has been visited by the awesome faerie. There was a time that this picture was true...

And then I saw your troopy.

That is absolutely wicked the way it is. I'd leave it original. At most I'd put PS from a 40 on it. I'm a bit of a purist, and unless it's already been modded, I'd keep it original.

I'd keep mine all original if it hadn't already been modified in Honduras...

Dan

PS-again: your troopy=awesome to the max!

Have you been hanging out with my wife? Ha Ha!!
She would love to see it go. Actually she puts up with the cruiser addiction pretty well, It' just like most people here, one cruiser is just not enough to satisfy!

I do like the idea of one stocker, and one to modify, and it would be easier to highly modify one that someone else has already molested for you!

How do I buy silver stars? (I'm new to this stuff).

hey, that troopy looks great. i think you should go with something mild, that way, you can return it to stock one day. at the same time, you have something better than stock to get you a bit more wheelin' action. dang, even the color is just awesome! where or how did you come about this '45?

It's an import from saudi arabia, so the body and frame are pretty clean. aside from some rust inside the rocker panels where sand biult up. the glove box is also full of sand! go figure.
I am also trying to deciede with route to go to fix the rust. does anyone have any experiance with the heritage sheet metal panels?

Heritage is about the best you will find, email Johnathon Ward at sales@tlc4x4.com I think he still has some sheet metal parts left over from a container shipment.

if it were me I would keep it close to OEM but with a OME lift and keep those wheels and put 34"x10.5 ltb's on there I love those wheels i tied being acouple diferent sets troopy oem spit rims but it just never worked out.
I would do what you want under the hood I would definately put a saginaw ps converstion on there but would prolly stick with the stock engine over a v8 esp. if it is running strong. not sure how ard you would want to wheel it . I would keep this rig closer to stock and build up a fj40 or a mini truck to wheel hard .
ours is a very pristine cruiser i wouldn't stray to far from that.
