Hi Guys,

found an 1979 HJ45 that is missing a bed amongst other things...but really like the look with the correct bed if possible. Are there any good sources here in the US? Also a newbie question would both the long and short bed fit? or is one of the wheel base/frame longer?

If Kevin @Awl_TEQ is considering another batch I would wait for his. It is a much better product.

Awesome that would be sweet...I saw a post from a group buy for beds but this was from like a year ago...think the dude was based in Dallas or something...Not sure that ever happened or if this is related or not but either way id be interested.

@CCRAFT that was Tom importing those beds last year. I think he sold them all. There appears to be only two sources for these units in our hemisphere. Kevin and a company in South America called Autoparts Zarate. Everyone that imports and sells new beds are getting them from SA. Those beds are ok quality. My number one issue with their product is that it's not an accurate reproduction. If you look at Zarates web site you will see a blue 45 with their bed on it. The bed is not the same height on the outside as a stock 45 bed and the tie down hooks look different. There are other differences as well that you can pick out easily when closely examined. I believe they are actually using a 47 bed for a pattern and they also hand make every part. So no QC or consistency from item to item. I'm not saying don't buy from them. But you should understand they are not Toyota quality units.

Hopefully Kevin will post on this thread and say I'm wrong, but in communication I had with him a couple of weeks ago it sounded like he hasn't made beds for quite a while and doesn't plan on making any in the future. :(

That's really unfortunate. The tailgate and headache rack I got from him are absolutely beautiful.

is it the rig from this thread?

FJ45 imported from costa rica no papers...

do you figure out the legal stuff?

Yeah thats the one...Current owner was able to track down some paperwork and working through that currently. But was trying to do my homework on what it would take get the correct bed for it... it looks to be a lot more rare than i originally thought.
