take the top off, the whole thing is a sun roof.

I've never seen one that didn't leak or detract from the resale. Have a good fiberglass shop fix the hole that's there.

The closest thing Toyota had was a pop up vent in the back of the early corrugated top.
Put the top back on before it snows.
Seems to me like every truck or jeep I have had with an aftermarket sun roof was a nightmare. if they did not leak, they would get so much condensation on them at times it would rain inside, I had to keep a towel inside at all times to wipe the condensation off the sun roof when I got in.
While I don't disagree with the detractors, a sunroof can be kind of nice and the one I got in the junkyard and installed myself in a minitruck never leaked and was never a PITA. It's going to be better than a camper vent top.
You could probably do a fairly respectable job of patching the 1'x1' hole yourself. Fiberglass work is messy, but pretty easy.
