FJ40 Noob, first tool?

Considering the size of the oil drain plug, I didn't expect to need such large metric sockets. I just went to Trader's Village in Dallas to pick some up. What size is that monster anyway?

The answer is 24mm and I have one!

It's very close to 7/8".

Front hub socket and Snap ring pliers to go with it.

Socket $20-25
Snap Ring pliers $30 (not the pin type)

What! Rather than a hammer, a chisel and two small screw drivers? My pet peeve. I've lost count of the spindle nuts I've seen hacked to the point you can't get a spindle socket over the nut. Yep, good first tool - and keep it in the tool box you take when you go wheelin'!

Any recommendations for a solid mid-grade grinder?

I really like the Rigid 4 1/2" slim grip grinder. I have had several over the years, but this one is the most comfortable to use.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will take a look at this one and the Makita. Sounds like there are many things I will be purchasing soon.
