FJ40 Axle Questions

so i bought a pair of 1980 fj40 axles to throw under my samurai. i am wondering if they happen to make a c-clip eliminator? ive heard these arent a problem with these axles but im just curious. another thing can i get replacement axle shafts if i ever happen to pop one of mine?

check longfield. i think they make axle shafts. i am not sure about c-clip eliminator tho

longfields make fronts...not sure what they do to eliminate the c-clip or if the still use it. if you want to get rid of the clip then search for marlin tack. for the rears there are poly performance axles which i have heard are good and bad. no personal experience. i really cant see you breaking these axles though..i would run stock axles for a while and if you manage to break one then deal with it then. i dont see it being a problem

i looked up marlin tack..... thats for the half cirlce clip in the front birf..... i meant the rear shafts c-clips anyway thanks for the poly performance idea....and the reasurance that i most likely wont break these.

whats the difference between my id supose semi floating and the fj40 full floating? can i convert mine to Full float

Yup or just get some fj45 (p/u or troopy) axles. Some later models of cruisers also have full floaters.
FYI: Have a couple friends running Sami's with TLC axles with 35's. Only thing they modified are the mounts, and some form of hi-steer. Unless you're running huge tires or a big motor teh C-clip and/or full floater would seem un-necessary; especially considering the lower weight, torque and HP of the typical Sami.

I gotta say since wheeling overseas with three guys in my club who run Sammys I give them all props. I can't imagine one running 35s, jeez.! Longfields makes chromoly inners for the front axel and are really nice folks to deal with, I run them, rock solid. When I do my rear disk brake conversion I am considering replacing the rear inners at the same time. Another company named Advanced I think does themI think... can't recall right now..I need more coffee. Good luck
