Hey Klinetime,
I know, this is a pretty long thread!
Yes, theyre 15x10 rock crawlers with 2.5 in BS, 35x12.5 BFG MT's.
I got them from 4wheelparts mounted, balanced, center caps, new lugs, shipped and literally off loaded into my garage for 996.00 AND I got em in 3 days. IMO it was a SCREAMIN deal.
I would recommend that you call them and ask for a package deal on rims and tires. Originally, I wanted the D spoke rims, but the rims I got were cheaper.
Im really pleased with how the stance came out with this set up!
Over all it feels REALLY stable on the road, and (from what I can tell) OFF ROAD as well.
Hope this helps
Chicago

Thanks Chicago! I will definately look into that. And the stance of your rig must put Ford Truck's tail's inbetween their legs. :D

Chicago,

I just sat down and finshed the last 6 or so pages of this thread...Congrats!!! It looks great and I am sure you are having a blast driving it again...Enjoy

Hi Chicago, Nicely done!

I am looking at front shock mounting options. You have one picture of the Ford towers. It looks like you had to cut some of the fender out, or is that something else? Why are the Ford towers the ones to have? It sounds like they were PITA? How much taller are they?

Did you order your rear shock mounts direct from the maker?

Thanks for the thread!

I have Ford towers for my FJ40. Here is why they are great: $25. Yep-already fabricated from heavy gauge steel and perfect for Land Cruiser SOA applications. Cheap and good, what's not to love?

They were a PITA, but they werent....
The only thing that made them difficult was the DS next to the steering box! Its REALLY FRICKING TIGHT there and made it EXTREMELY difficult to weld. It wouldnt have been an issue except I wanted the shocks mounted above the center of the housing...I could have moved them to the back side of the housing and given myself some more space, but I just thought it best to have it centered as much as possible.
SO, with a compromise, it would have been much easier...I didnt want to compromise the center location, so it made it more challenging.
YES, you will have to cut out the fender well, which is pretty easy.
I drilled and tapped the frame to bolt up the tower after I had my position set. Made the welding much easier too.
Like Cruiserdrew said...the ford towers are CHEAP and really simple to mount and you get a TON of length out of em. I looked at the hoops too, but looking at how they had to mount, it would have made welding even more difficult as the struts on the hoops get welded to the TOP of the frame rail.
I got my shock tabs from Kurt at cruiser outfitters. I ran the front tabs like the FJ40...One tab with a through bolt, 1/2 in, grade 8.
If you want pics, lemme know and Ill get some for ya.
The rear lower pins I got from Sky mfg...they are an AWESOME design. A bit pricy IMO (35.00 for 2), but to me, WORTH EVERY PENNY!
Rusty TLC and I are gonna make a short run today and see how everythings working on the trail! Ill post pics of that later.

So when are you going to post some pictures of the 62 in the wild?

I was DRIVING, and you were going too fast for me to stop and take pics!!!:flipoff2:
The pics I got were pretty lame! I gotta train the lil woman to get out and take some more pics!:D
Since you asked...Here are a few, mostly of the NV views, and airing down and airing up!
We didnt do ANYTHING hairy...
It was my wifes first time in the rig, and my first time with it on a "trip", so we took it easy!
What we did do... I LOVE the SOA! I donno what it is, but it handles about the same as it did SUA.
I was picking some easy "off camber" lines (I say this very loosly), and it didnt feel sketchy at all...Now granted, it was an easy run, but first impressions...it HANDLED AWESOME! Rode better than it ever had before, and I wasnt smacking every rock on the spring packs as it used too...All 4 wheels on the ground is very nice too!
I honestly believe that the AAL's and the wider BS makes all the difference!
