Hi there fellow Cruiser Owners,
I have a 1995 24 valve diesel cruiser that was modified before I bought it into a 7 seater which is what I wanted due to having 4 kids the back seats in it now sort of match the trim of the rest of the cruiser, but I have been looking at fitting a 100 series set to make my cruiser into a 8 seater, I have spotted a set for sale on the interent over here in New Zealand amd was wondering what modification would be involved fitting them and does anyone know the dimensions of the seats for the rear 100 series back seats as I can't get clear measurements out of the guy selling them, I'm a engineer and would be able to carry the work out myself then get it certified to nz safety standards. All I would like is some advice on whether these seats will fit into my cruiser and what sort of mod I will need to do to my truck to fit them :D also if anyone has got a picture of the rear guard mounts for 100 series rear seats please send them to me at shannon_mcghie@hotmail.com
Many thanks:p

Regards
Harley

i dont have anything to help you on that but why not just buy a used set of 80 seats off the internet cheap that you know will work?? i know shipping would be hell but you would know 100% sure that they would fit.

X2 the 100 series have a completely different mounting setup IIRC and would probably be a bigger PITA and $$$ in the long run than going with 80 series seats. I think the 100 series is quite a bit wider too, so the seats might not even fit width wise in an 80.

Just slap in a set from a 93 which has the the bonus lap belt in the third row. As far as child seating is concerned, pro of the 93 is that you get 3 belts in the third row (for 8 passengers total). Con is the seat belts don't "lock" when extended all the way as they do in newer models.

Use 80 seats with the center lap belt for 8 seating.

my us spec 93 fzj80 has a center lap belt on the third row. later models did not have the center lap belt. What year was the change to 7 passenger made?

The 1995 model year.

i sold a set of 100 series jump seats for 100 dollars to a local junk yard so you should not have much trouble getting a set of 80 seats and that is true you do have the lap belt in the middle on the third seat. it comes in handy if you got car seats believe me i know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While not recommended by Toyota, I added a lap belt to the center section of my 1997 third row. It works great.

My '95 seats 8 :D.

You have the mount points for a center belt using standard 80 series 3rd row seats. All you have to do is spend a few bills on a new second row middle belt and bolt it in. When I checked with CDan on this he confirmed that the part # is the same.

many thanks for this advice :D The seats are $500 all up with shipping but after doing my own investigating on the mounting mechanism I realise the change would be to expensive, how ever over here only the new zealand new landcruisers and import petrol 80's series were 7 and 8 seaters and it is extremely unlikely I will be able to find a set in nz....can anyone think of any other options or seats that might fit without all the $$$ the modification was made to my cruiser in either 1997-98 as I bought the truck in 2004 and he previous owner didn't fit them they were unsure when they were fitted but its a 1995 and was imported at 30,000km in 1997 so somewhere around then I have a new baby on the way and with 2 teenagers and one to large to fit in the back I need comfortable seats for baby and my youngest daughter. Does anyone have some seats over in the us I could get shipped for around $500 all up? if so send me a message or put me on to someone who might have some. and douglas shuft thanks for your comment the reason I can't fit a centre belts is because the rear seats all though looking like the real thing they arent 80's series seats and dont join in the middle so its impossible to make it into a 8 as it is.

Many thanks for all your replies

Harley,

Can you post a pic of your rig's interior (color and textile combo).

I've got a 5-seater and have been trying to convert it into an 8-seater.
I've thrown in the matching (used) 3rd-row seats picked.
There's cutting/welding involved, but can't beat the perfect fit/match (I'm not completely finished yet: Need to get the latches at the bottom of the floor, as well as the RH/LH seatbelts).

I come across somoe used 3rd-row seats in Japan, so I'll look for them for you, if you'd like. I might be able to do it for your target price even.

Let me know and we can take it from there (And don't worry, no committment required!;))

thanks very much for your offer mot, will post a pic of my cruisrs interior in the nxt couple of days as am waiting on a new battery for my camera the old one died last week, I've looked into 80 series seats and there is some gd leather ones at a wreckers yard a hour from me they are probably wanting around $1000 including seat belts mounts etc....I'll look into them tomorrow try and negociate abit I just realised also I have been talking in nz dollars which at the moment is only 2 thirds an american dollar. If I dont trun anything up soon I'll get back to you but hold off just for now, as I also want to search in australia as I could get them shipped over to here for a reasonable price. and as for my cruisers trim its grey and not suede like in the vx limited as mine is only a vx it grey with a pattern and thts the best I can describe it until I post the pic :Dill post a pic of it soon.
does anyone have any pics of the 3rd row seats where they are mounted on to the rear guards as this would be very helpful to me.

Many thanks everyone on ih8mud the best site i've ever been to

Harley,

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but these are the pics of the Wagon (Petrol) model that had the rear a/c and the 3rd-row seats.

I looked at it closely before deciding to retrofit them into my HDJ as well.

HTH's!

The rear brackets you see toward the bottom are not symmetrical(sp). So the one on the AUS-DS will look/placed slightly different, I believe.

If you can't get anything from a junkyard you can do what I did and order these inner fenderwells/arches and just get the brackets off of them and weld them onto your rig (Placement would be a bit tricky, but should be do-able.)

Here are some samples...

Pic 1 & 2 are exactly like mine ('90 to maybe '94-ish, VX model)

Pic 3 for the '95- on-ish VX.

hi mot many thanks for your help this has helped me greatly in my search for seats my cruiser doesn't have the mounts in the floor nor does it have the mounts on the gurads which seems to be my problem at this stage I would be able to make the mounts for the guards myself without much trouble but the mounts in the floor seem to be more difficult as I would have to cut two holes in the bottom and buy the mounts to put in if they are still availible in japan did your cruiser have the mounts in the floor and if they didn't what did you do to get around it?

Many thanks for your help

Harley,

You're welcome!

Mine did not come with the mounts.

I bought the latches(strikers) last year, so as of them they were still available (cheap, too).

My friend was just going to maybe cut a couple of holes and do some welding and stuff to take care of it. Placement of everything was/is going to be trickly. (I do not have the floor parts done yet and getting the wheel well parts/brackets welded seemed like a chore as well).

I could not do it if I tried it!

Let me see if I can get you the PN for the striker pieces... Hold on!

Here's a diagram...

It's a bit hard to see, but I think the highlighted parts are the strikers... I believe it requires two bolts (one on each side of the striker) per side to secure them.

Striker: 72607-90K00 (You'll need 4 of them, going from memory though)

Bolts: 90119-10493 (Two bolts per striker?)

HTH's (some more! ;))
