Hi all
I'm new to this site, as well as to being a Land Cruiser owner and thought I should say hi. My brother and I decided to start looking for a cruiser a few months back so we could have something to take out on weekends. Our grandpa had bought an Fj60 new in 1987 and we have great memories with that vehicle. We originally set out to find one that was pretty much identical to our grandpa's (dark blue metallic). It was not long until we had some that we were seriously considering when a strange one caught our eye. We had really never seen anything like it, and once we saw some better pictures, made sure there was no rust or major issues, our decision was pretty simple. It was not the color that we set out to get; it was tan and had brown "woodish" decals running down the length of the doors and wrapping around the tail gate. It was lifted and had lockers. We drove 10 hours from Pasadena, to Auburn (northeast of Sacramento) with a friend who volunteered his trailer, made the transaction, turned around and drove 10 hours back home with the new rig. It was a trip I will remember for a long time. We spent a little time cleaning it up and tweaking it, and now it is our weekend beast. Our first trip was to Joshua Tree this past weekend with a few friends, one of who just recently purchased a 93 land cruiser. The rig handled it like a champ the entire time. We did some good old fashioned camping, and also had our first experience rock climbing. If anyone has anything similar as far as the side decals I would love to see some pictures. Thanks for looking and take care.

Family still has my grandpa's cruiser in the Solvang/Lompoc area. We take it out when we are up there, it still runs fine but it has started to get some rust. This is the only pic I could find of it. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/CSsI85KGqnd97UrDFmDmOA?feat=directlink

cool find

It's nice to know that it's still with your grandpa, maybe you could help stop the rust from spreading hate to see a cruiser get some extreme cancer i'm sure he will appreciate it you might end up having it in the future, just my 2 cents.

Nice looking truck. I like the woody look, it's unique. What was the route (climbing) rated, 5.10+?

Nice find and congrats! Good taste is timeless and 60 series Cruisers are very tasty!! The longer you have the truck the more you'll love it.
Here are a few shots of my truck. The first time I saw the truck with its two-tone paint job, I wasn't a fan of the distinctive look but have come to like it. With a truck that stands out like a two-tone 60 series does, you have to be careful who you flip off as they will be able to remember your truck. :hillbilly:
I agree with the thought to leave the rock crawling to the machines built for the job.
