Two weeks ago my son (2 yrs) and I were driving down this old back road when out of no where a lady on a cell phone appeared in t the middle of the road in a biggo SUV. I drove though some guys yard and came close to removing his mail box. Therefore, I'm working on my first bumper build (front). Here are the off-the-truck pics. I have a few plans for future winch, bars and hooks. I'm just trying to get the basics in first.

Material: 1/4" 1000 series

looks heavy duty, but maybe a little heavy too. If your using 1/4" it will be strong, but the weight adds up quick with each piece of metal you weld on. Should work good for high speed front yard excursions though!

Are you planning a bar on the top of it too?

Oh, it's heavy. Around 175lbs. I though about cutting a few holes to remove weight, but no definite plans. Bars are in the future.

Don't go too heavy. The one I made you can lift yourself. If too heavy, your cruiser gets that "tick" or "stinkbug" look, nose pointing in the ground. Make it strong and burly, just don't make it too heavy.
make a couple big holes for blinkers or fog lights, or both! That's what I want to do with mine in the future.

Its looking good though, homemade is the way to go. Taylor it to your needs. $%)# Mailboxes!

I would definitely cut a few holes (top, bottom, front) and kill some of that weight, but it looks great

I finally finished the front bumper. 1/4" plate, about 175 lbs, but I can run over anything now.....

there was no way you could have made it a little shorter?? it sure does stick out there.

Holy Mad Max bumper, that's awesome! 1/4" plate, wow...you mean bitness!!!

Hire yourself out as a battering ram possibly?

Nice job.

You plan on taking on 18 wheelers with that? I think you'll win...:)

I originally planned on 3/16" plate, but the 1/4" was the same price..... As for the 18 wheeler, I just want to win if I have a head-on colision. Plus, I do happen to have a crash, I want the vehicle to be totaled or nothing at all.

Man, I think it rocks. When can I order one?

WOW!!! And I thought mine was burly and beefy... Mine doesn't stick out anywhere NEAR that far...
