Do you guys have fire extinguishers mounted in your 70 Series and if so could you share photos of how they are mounted? I'm also interested in what brand of fire extinguisher you chose for your application.
Thanks

Not mounted yet - on my list. My initial thought has been to use the bolt holes recently vacated by jump seat harnesses.

Is their a brand you recommend?

I've had 2x5 lb'ers mounted to the front of my drawer for years. I recently picked up 2 of the Element units from HuddExpo and was pleasantly surprised to find it fits in the factory emergency flare mount in the kick panel of my HDJ81. I expect it will be the same for the 74, though I haven't tried it yet.

I keep one of these in my old-Italian-fire-waiting-to-happen car and the back of the camper truck. Nice and small. Need to grab them up for the trucks.

The #2's interior came with a bitchin' OEM fire bottle mounted to the right front passenger footwell. I've noticed my 73 has the knockouts for it. Unsure how it mounts down there because the holes don't really correspond to anything behind it.

I have found the part number but it's discontinued from Toyota...

Found the pic.

Thanks for the link. Looks like the way to go.

In addition to the Element extinguishers, this one seems to be a good non-traditional option:

As for what I have and mounting, this:

in this:

mounted to my suspension seat base.

Will probably change that plan and go with the Element or Fireade option and use the above in the UZJ100.

I would like to mount it on my headache bar which means which ever model I chose would need to stand up to the elements. I'll have to contend with sticky fingers if I mount it outside of the cab so perhaps inside might be smarter.

If having a fire extinguisher with Toyota name on it is an requirement, they are on Toyota forklifts. Probably available through any parts supplier for Toyota forklifts.

I see some cool adaptable stuff for sale in our catalog for our Toyota forklifts at work although I don't recall seeing the extinguishers in them.

I wouldn't (and don't) carry anything less than a 5lb'er.
Nothing worse than having your small FE empty while the fire is still going, trust me, it sucks.
Fires spread fast.
That's what I fund interesting about the Element Model.
50 SECOND DISCHARGE
"More than 4X the fire fighting time of a 5LB fire extinguisher."

From the videos I saw, the effective range is pretty short on those stick units. Sticking your hand into a blazing vehicle doesn't sound like fun.

That said, anything is better than nothing and most people carry nothing.

And I'm certainly not a fire expert. Just yearly usage certs and deal with fire extinguishers daily on our munitions operations. :D

Random worthless fact to 99% of you....

If you drive through Honduras without one you will be paying some bribes to the cops. Oh and you got to carry an orange triangle too.

Cheers

Well I'm accustomed to simply lifting an overhead cover to discharge the extinguishing agent.
That system however might be a tad expensive for my Land Cruiser.

I've got a Wits End mount in my 80 via @NLXTACY . Not sure if there are 70 series mounts. It is pretty cool. I can't remember what extinguisher I bought tho. One of those "can't use Halon anymore" Halon replacements. That said I think I am going to add a couple of element brand jobs to my gear.

I've got 2x 2lb ones mounted laying along the side of the front seat outer rails. The plastic holders they came with have been fine. Had to be in just the right spot to be clear of the recline lever etc, but they're out of the way & super accessible straight in the door.

Cheers
Clint

Sorry - been away from the Mud for family time! Sounds like you have a lead, but I just make sure I have an A/B/C extinguisher (most are) for the electrical component of the fire. Not saying to not go as big as you can make fit in your vehicle, but being a Firefighter, I am always amazed at how much fire a small extinguisher can put out when properly applied.
