Where are you guys mounting your fire extinguishers?

I searched; can't find much. Post up pics of fire extinguishers mounted in your 2Hundy. Explain how you mounted them; screws, etc. into metal pillar, yadda, yadda. I'm needing ideas and I don't wanna stick a sheet metal screw into a wire or into an expensive concealed A/C line, or an air bag sensor, or some other gizmo.

Thanks.

Mine is mounted on the removal panel from the ARB Drawer Trim hit. Bolted the bracket to it

Be a true bad ass, and mount it on the A-pillar.

I don't have a fire extinguisher in my truck. But reading the thread on Overland Bound (the one I shared earlier today) reminded me that I should have one somewhere. But do I really need to "mount" it? Can I just buy one and store it some place? And if I do get one, any recommendations on what to get?

I’m partial to H3R Performance HalGuard fire extinguishers, but they are a bit spendy...

Aside from keeping it functional and readily accessible in an emergency, mounting an extinguisher keeps it from becoming a projectile killing people in a collision or rollover...

Here's one option I added to my 200...

Fire Extinguisher Mounted

I also have one mounted externally on my Slee bumper behind the spare (looking for a photo to post...)

I think it's one of the most important mods you can make, and it's definitely smart to not only mount it but mount it where it's easily accessible to the driver even if you're restrained. What could is a fire extinguisher in the back if you're in a wreck and trapped in your seat? A lot of clubs and events actually require you have one as a condition of running trails with them (like Cruise Moab). A fire extinguisher is something you expect to use, and most likely never will, but if you are ever the first responder to an accident where someone is literally burning to death trapped in their seat, you'll never want to be in a car without one. I used H3R stuff, and it's solid:

Agree. I chose one with a hose so that you could even use it from it's mount. You never know when a few extra seconds could be the difference in escaping your seat-belt...or not. Even a brief few seconds of retardant in a cabin fire could be the difference.

Here's what I recently added as an external mounton Slee bumper...
-Tucks nicely between the tire and hatch, and you can remove it quickly even without opening the swing-out...

Amazingly, It's been on for 6 months and no one has stolen it, likely because it's almost invisible behind the tire, or looks locked, even though it's just a simple pull-pin to release. It can be easily released even with the tire swing out closed.

Good stuff. Thanks. I think for this next trip (leaving on Wednesday) I'll get one I can put in the door water bottle pocket.

Just one small defense of the small extinguishers that tend to be dismissed....

Those little ones are sometimes the ticket to being able to access the fire source, where a large unit can't get the right angle because it's too big. I put out an early engine fire with one for a motorist I stopped for on the freeway.
A bigger unit with a HOSE would also do that, but in this case, the itty bitty extinguisher did the job with one small burst, and still had retardant left. A well-aimed small unit beats a poorly aimed larger unit. I've since moved to a hosed main, but I wouldn't discount quality smalls.

Like the setup, but how does that release with the hose clamps?

It's a two-piece mount.
Part one is bolted to the ladder and includes the pin release.
Part two is hose-clamped to the extinguisher, and stays attached to the extinguisher when you pull the pin & remove.

This is the mount:

Nice, but what fun is that. When I saw your first post with the hose clamps, I imagined flames shooting out from under your hood while you looked for a fancy right-angle screwdriver in your tool bag to get at those hose clamps.

Can u post a link to where you bought the mount! Thanks. IMHO you have mounted your FE in the best and safest location!
