OK guys....my weekend pain in the ass has been completing a 3Rd member swap in the front of my 81 42. I have everything all buttoned up until getting to the driveshaft....once I went to bolt it up I realized the hole pattern is a bit off. So I figured I could change out the piece the driveshaft bolts too...so I took it off with a 27 mm socket and pulled it off....course spline. So original one to the truck (fine spline) won't fit obviously. So now I'm stuck....I'm not about to take everything apart again...so I'm thinking about pencil grinding to the holes a bit to make em fit. They are off by about a 1/16 maybe....I'll try and load some pics... It appears the holes are slightly bigger on the driveshaft as well...any suggestions would be appreciated or a little moral support would help too.....lol

1963-74 pinion flange is coarse spline with 56mm by 64mm bolt pattern (pinion flange part number ends in 26011). 1974-77 is coarse spline with 60mm by 68.5mm bolt pattern (pinion flange part number ends in 60010). 1978-84 is fine spline with 60mm by 68.5 bolt pattern. So, if my info is correct you could use the 1974-77 pinion flanges since they will fit your coarse spline pinion shaft, and they will have the correct bolt pattern (but I believe bolt holes will need to be drilled out for larger 1981 bolts) Now let's see if the panel agrees with my info?????

Look to see if Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters has a flange that would work for you?

X2. That's where I got mine to swap in a 71 third under a 77.

So just so I'm on the same page, you pulled a fine spline 3rd member and replaced it with a course splined 3rd member. Your pulled 3rd member had an after-market dual bolt pattern flange. So, are you sure your drive shaft is the original?

Based on the above picture your drive shaft flange is in second row on the right but the pinion flange in top row left. What you need is the one in the second row on the right. That will have the same bolt pattern and size and course spline that you need.

Your round flange appears to have been re-drilled to a new pattern... A new flange or a new yoke would be the rest way to solve your issue.

Yes Byron, you're exactly right! Nice diagram. I'm not sure if driveshaft is original. Will try Kurt today and possibly my local Edmonton supplier....I didn't realize that this would be a simple fix. Sounds like I could adjust the driveshaft or the 3Rd member? Didn't even consider that... Apologies for dual post, wasn't intentional I'd remove one if I knew how...

What's the first part of these part numbers? Are these still available from Toyota? I need to get a couple of the fine spline 60x68.5 flanges.
