Very nice ,top job
you have a super tough rig.

Why portals and not a suspension lift? Or even SOA??

Simple answer, I want the car lifted and not the body! In my opinion there is NO other way than using bolt on portals if you want ground clearance and a good looking car.

Hope that helps,
Olaf

This way will also keep all your steering geometry std while having taller treads and more ground clearance I would think

I agree, if the cost of such portals are reasonably economical, not going to be be short of 3 legs and an arm.

Sure, saw this portals march two years ago, yes, I'm addicted to this car (not only this car ), had no problem to work 2 hours more each day to fullfill my dream.

Wow! I wish those trucks were more attainable in the US!

Two questions, how much lift did it give and how much gear reduction?

Wow! That seems like it would ne the perfect mod for my 60. Enough clearance for 32-33" tires and it would put the final drive at a happy medium between the 3.7 and 4.1 with a 4sp. Do want!!!! :D

Ballpark price?

I am curious about the spring pack, was adding the extra leaves necessary? Also are the calipers and rotors included or did you have to purchase those separately? Lastly about how long did the install take?

Ballpark price?

They adapted them for me the first time and I really don't know the final price. Please ask Tibus Offroad for the final price, because I really don't know. I know they aren't cheap, but I have to say, I have only this short life and I don't want to be without a hot car :D

Where I cab find this portals bolt on?

Thanks and regards,

TIBUS Offroad Engineering

There is no change on the suspension or steering neccessary. Calipers and rotors are included also new chromo rear axle shafts.

The additional leafs where already installed before but they are not neccessary. A skilled mechanic would need about 12 hours to install the portals.

Greetings,
Olaf

Just got an email back from Tibus on the cost for my BJ73.....10k euros. That's quite a bit more than I'd ever spend on something like that--ah well, so much for this idea.

Wow! I was anxiously awaiting my quote now not so much. I'm sure they are very costly to produce but that is way out of my atmosphere. Hell, there's a very nice 404 for sale near me for less!!!

WOW 10K Euros thats $50,000rm haha I can buy Volvo portals for 18,000 here. But they do look high quality . I am assuming they are toyota pads etc they use? Still its the only option for bolt on portals I believe (I think MARKS 4wd systems also have portals)

How does the handbrake work clamps to the discs?

How many of you folks think that the front caliper is lowly mounted? Personal view is bit low.
BTW, Do you need to swap the axle shaft in order for this portal to fit in?

thats 10k without the G Wagen rims probably

ouch!

those rims are awesome.
