Found a local 2006 gx470 one woman owner w service records! Picking it up next Sunday! 78k Miles NAV non-KDSS non-rear dvd. It needs some cv boots but I figured if I did a lift, ld knock those or during the install. Everything else looks and performs as it should (still a daily driver driven 10miles a day).

This truck will be pulled behind our class a diesel pusher. We’re going full time on the road w three of our kids to see the US and Canada.

I wanted a vehicle that was reliable, cheap to own, easy to tow, and could provide off-road capabilities for wherever the road takes us.

Mods planned and open for suggestions:

AT tires probably 1 size up
Black rims (possibly FJ or 4Runner trd)
HIDs
Roof rack w LED bar
New tint all the way around
Dvd In headrests for the kids
Class4 hitch

I might want to do a mild lift and upgrade from the factory shocks. I’ve been researching options to death but would welcome any and all advice and feedback.

Thx to everyone who has contributed in some way shape and form! So much good info on here.

Very nice find. The GX470 is fairly capable stock. If you only plan to go on fire roads and mildly difficulty roads, then consider saving money and just putting skinny tall AT tires on the stock OEM wheels.

Take a look at this post. There's a PDF attached to this post that contains additional notes on a mild build. GX470 Primer for the Ideal Mild-Build for Under $3000

No, you should not flat tow. full time is no bueno. You could, in theory, remove the drive shafts, but I wouldn't do it.
