That quarter panel repair job is impressive! Very good job, truck looks great with the liner. We have the same color LX's so now I know what mine will look like before trying it.

I talked with someone at Al's liner about custom colors and they said its very easy you just ad the color tint you want to the mix (do not ad the tint provided by al's) and mix. I think when I go this way I will try for the OE flair color or close to it but use the lines you have.

Again great job.

Al's Liner Put To The Test

Went on my first wheeling trip since I applied the liner. I had to negotiate through a few tight spots between rocks and didn't quite fit in one. A big rock on the passenger side s****ped my door panel and pushed it in 1/2". Although the liner is a little scuffed, it did not s****e off of the paint. It was the ultimate test so I'd say this stuff is pretty darn durable.

Today I put all my door panels back on and installed the drawers, lights, and bumpers. I didn't get to the sliders but decided to give her a bath.

What do you think?

I have the same color LX. Checked it out again this morning and that just looks freaking AMAZING! (giving me ideas...)

You have the sexiest decladded lexus I've seen. Well done and the blackout looks awesome

Did you paint the door jams and between the gate & lid or just the outside?

I was wondering the same thing. Also, you used a spray gun from Harbor Freight or just a paint hopper? Did you sand everything down to the metal or just rough it up and prime?

When I sprayed the liner some made through the gaps in between the doors, so after the liner cured, I opened the doors and masked a clean line and just sprayed with black spray paint.

I used the $20 drywall texture hopper. It's identicle to the $50 Al's Liner offers.

I did not sand to bare metal, just roughed it up with 40grit paper, primed, then sprayed. HTH

Time for more bondo work.

Well,
The rocks were too much this time for the Liner AND the sheet metal. I get to test my body work skills again. I will post more pics once I begin the body work.

Doh!!

have you thought about an exo or at least corner protectors?

Hi, did mine to. White lc 80 and black around the wheel arches and low down on the doors. Looks pretty good. I will try post pic as soon as i can.

Actually I have, especially after banging this up a second time. I did some sketching and showed my ideas to a friend of mine. I'm gonna be adding some 1-1/2" .120 wall tube to the rear quarter panels soon. But first I gonna get the body work done. I started today and thought it would be a good time to make more room for the 37's as they rub the rear end of the rear fender wells pretty good. I notched the fender well from mid-point to the back and folded them in. Also took 1/4"+ off off the wings of my bumper. Here's some pics of the process:

I was 1/2 joking - mostly cause so many people have a strong adversion to exo's. I've always wanted to do one on mine to avoid just this situation - as I've dented both my quarters just as you have - though I tend to find trees, not rocks - I seem to like to climb ledges with tree's on either side that are purfect for bouncing off of. I opened up my rear wheel wells like you're doing, but I did the whole thing, not just the back half. Look forward to seeing what you end up with.
