Re: the specs needed to source the 70 series axle shaft... Here is the info I have from when I bought the axle from @AlbertoSD

"late 70-series Full Floating rear axle with factory disc brakes (6-lug style) for sale. It is complete, with park brake cable included.
The 70-series axles have the same track as a 40-series"

Thanks
Mark

I'm pretty sure I can help you out. I'll be inventorying another crate of mine surplus parts this weekend that should have some of the shafts you are looking for.

Can you tell from the picture specifically what model year/ version that axle is? I'm trying to get in touch with @AlbertoSD to see if he knows but I haven't heard back yet.

1990 to 1997 from a HZJ73 have those axles and I think yours came out of a 94 that I sold to Alberto

The short side shaft should be common to all 40, 60, 70s until about 1998. IIRC the long side is series specific but a 40 and 70 are close enough to interchange. I could be convinced to pull a 40 shaft from my wife's 40 to compare with an early and late 70 series shaft that I have.

Correct. What @lowenbrau said. Short side is the same through 1998-1999ish (depending on market).

Long side will be 70 specific.

RH: 42311-60053
RH w/diff lock (longer splines): 42311-60081
LH: 42312-60043

All of these are available in the US market. Though one will need a valid HS-7 for parts release.

It's a DOT document that tells Toyota that your non-US cruiser is in the US legally and they release the parts to fill supply.

You need a 70 series.

Otherwise, you'll have to get the parts off line from an online retailer.

I'd contact Georg at Valley Hybrids or Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters and see if they have aftermarket shafts.

How about "good" sources for used shafts... and known retail outlets that stock these...?
That said, for the 60 that is 99% trail truck I'd more likely go Nitro over new OEM.

@joekatana for used 70 axle shafts would be my first contact.

many of the online non-US sources can get you new ones. They all pretty much operate the same way.

next year I might have a few , I am doing a deal back home that involves a few dozen axles in a group buy , some of them are incomplete and will be parted out.
