Good Day,

I have a newly acquired 93' Prado that has been in the shop since 11/9, just a week after purchase, and I'm dying to drive the thing. its currently flare-less and I was really trying to get these darn things in the mail before I pickup the truck. I'm having a heck of a time finding some that are either OEM or aftermarket without the rivets. I've done a long, long search in the 70's forum and has led me to dead ends.

I'm unsure if certain newer 70's fender flares fit my kzj78. It appears that it might be the case, but I cannot find these parts for sale. Please help.

Hello,

Is your Prado a short wheelbase 70/71 Series or a long wheelbase 77/78/79 Series?

OEM fender flares bolt on mounts that are riveted to the body.

Front fender flares may not be available, at least not OEM.

OEM rear fender flares are similar to the ones that Heavy Duty 70 Series use. You can get these and use them on your Prado.

Fender flares have a seal that is getting hard to find OEM.

Remember to order the mounts and the hardware as well.

Hello Juan,

Here's the kzj78 I purchased -

Perhaps my terminology isn't correct. When I say "rivets" I do understand that under the flare there are areas where the fender has bolts and that's how the flare is attached. What I don't want to see is the holes on the flare itself, and on the exterior. I see plenty of those aftermarket flares with holes in them. I want them under the flare or without and I will attach them without the hardware.

Hello,

Bolts are under OEM flares. They are not visible from the outside.

Well, most of them.

Heavy Duty 70 Series trucks have two bolt recesses in the front part, and you can see the bolts. But it is just two of them. I am not sure about the Prado.

You can use rear flares from a Heavy Duty 76 Series (HZJ76/VDJ76/FZJ76/GRJ76) in your truck. These are available from Toyota.

Regarding front flares, you may have to look for an aftermarket part, or source them from a donor truck.
