Fender flares and 33x10.50 tires...

The PO really hacked up the opening cut. Here's my redneck, el cheapo cover up. Bought some strap at Home Depot , notched to make the radius and welded it the inside of the wheel well. Finished with very little body filler to fill the gap. I know, I know, PO hack but I'm never selling the rig so no biggie.:hillbilly:

Me thinks flares with skinny tires looks like an overbite. I had the same issue on my 76 spring green. I added some wheel spacers to get the look right... my .02... :)

Don’t mind my fender flares as much after seeing this!

Can't quite wrap my head around that.o_O

I think if you run flares run 60 axles or throw a set of 1.25 aluminum spacers on her. Mike

I don't think that the flares are as aesthetically significant as the vertical line which roughly corresponding to the quarters and top sides. Would your new treads put the treads within, or outside, the width of the body?

On my first 40, I could strip paint off of the drag link with the driver side 33(x12.5?) BFG mud terrain and American Racing spoked steelies by turning left.

I’ve thought about wheel spacers but seem to recall reading they cause stress on wheel bearings?

Looking at pictures supplied by others with the 10.50 width I’m going with, it looks like the tire’s outer edge lines up close to or just inside the the body...

You have to weld a piece to complete the opening coverage? I only found 4 foot stick of metal bar @ HD... which is a few inches short!

I really don't remember. I may have bought three sticks and cut and butt welded as needed. No biggie though.
