Can someone tell me if the rear parking brake assemply on the axle is zinc coated or simply painted at the factory? It’s a 1982 FJ40

Just a thought "Cadmium plating and galvanizing both provide corrosion protection, but they differ significantly in their methods, properties, and applications. Cadmium plating offers superior corrosion resistance in marine and industrial environments and better lubricity, but it is toxic and its use is increasingly restricted due to environmental concerns. Galvanizing, typically hot-dip galvanizing, uses zinc and is more readily available, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly."

Not sure but in aircraft a lot of stuff was done with zinc chromate
I see its now on the list of bad stuff too. But you can buy it on Amoron
