Vancouver eh?
I have a "small" style of brake booster for my truck. It came in a box of parts so I assume it is the one off of my truck. However, I have also seen larger styles of boosters. Is one better than the other or is needed? Why is there a difference?

My firewall is a 1976 that originally came with disk brakes.

I plan on buying a new master cylinder anyway.

Thoughts?

You can use it. no problem, it will bolt right in.

the fisrt pic is a single diaphram, the second a dual diaphram booster. good used duals are hard to find, IME.

Hi All:

Use which ever booster fits best in your rig - that is, clearance for the clutch master, carb, etc.

Alan

tell us what it is out of, how it works, what MC you use, if you use a proprtioning valve & front/rear brake combo you have.

76 came with the Tandem booster. I got the last Toyota rebuild kit in the world and they are now unobtainium. I think the you could get a rebuilt one with used but good parts from Mark's Offroad in Burbank. When the whole booster was still available from Toyota it was $1100, so expect some sticker shock. My rebuild kit was $250, and another $100 to Booster Dewey in Oregon to get it rebuilt.

Lots of posts about using Minitruck boosters in FJ40s. I'm pretty sure that works well. You can also use an FJ60 booster, but as I recall, you need to flip it upside down.

Good luck. In 10 years, we'll all convert to GM boosters.
