Ive currently got the white plastic/rubberized what I believe to be OE side mirrors. They drive me nuts, they don't get tight enough to stay while driving.. Im constantly having to adjust them. Are there better OE style alternatives?
Any suggestions?

FWIW - Being the mirrors are good, you can try this little trick. Go to your local hardware store and pick up a couple of small external tooth lock washers. Place one in the mirror's plastic ball socket, then install the mirror on the mirror arm ball. Then tight'en'er back up.

This is what I did it when I installed new mirrors. I removed the mirror & arm off the door. Then laid the mirrors on a towel face down, insert external tooth lock washer, installed the mirror arm ball, installed bolts, tighten, then reinstalled as a whole unit...:meh:

Tooth pick or tongue depressor ? My glass is good, the surrounds are brittle. The set screws won’t tighten anymore and 1 may be stripped by PO. I thought of adding a bit of silicone or electrical tape to the ball then clamping these back in place. I just don’t know how well that’ll last to 60mph winds

You can still buy NOS mirrors if you do some searching. I got some of Australian Ebay a month or so ago.
They tighten up really well. They are actually convex mirrors, apparently they were a late model option.
I love em, my vision has improved dramatically and they dont flop about like the old ones did. Being genuine Toyota is awesome as well. They cost a s*** load though!

These that i have were ,what I believe, genuine OE.. I’ll post pics this afternoon

I'm sure there are other options.

I really like my Euro spec 40 mirrors, they stay tight/adjusted. Not sure if there are any left to buy though. I got mine from City Racer LLC @Racer65

I also put the euro spec mirrors on mine. I like them a lot. I did add a small convex parking mirror to the upper outside corner of each mirror though. With my 40 being a bit taller than stock, the convex mirror allows me to have the mirrors properly adjusted for normal driving but I can also see the rear tires when I'm backing up.

Those are the ones I have and they flap like a dollar held by an 18$ y.o his first time at the strip joint

Installed these convex aftermarket units, per post #2 directions:

I can obtain these speeds without readjustment needed:

They are not as solid as a Neurosurgeons hands during surgery, but they are useful.

Yeah convex is the go. Your old ones are only flapping about coz they're old and stuffed. Get some new ones and they will be fine.

This is the model I’m currently using.. I think I may remove the head, try to add a rubber coating to the ball end, and reattach the heads to see if they stop flopping..
