Extended BumpStops... (1 Viewer)

I have front & rear Timbrens- the cost is dumb; more for the fronts than the back. Front & rear are sold for the same price, yet the rear has more involved mounting hardware & 4x more rubber- it makes no sense. Also- there are two bump stops per front LCA - so if you were to replace all 4 (which most only replace one set) you'd be in King hydraulic bump stop price range.

The Wheeler stops look like a softer material than the Timbren- they may work differently. And do they have specific application for 100 series?

The rears are worth the investment, the fronts...Meh.

@nitteo - what rear springs are you running, high be time for an upgrade?

So the price would be $645 for a full set of Timbers ? $215 x2 Front $430 + $215 for rear?

I only have a single set of Timbrens up front. Correction, I went and checked and I have 2 on each A arm up front.

No specific application for the 100 that I know of. I want to say that around 2016-2017, Wheeler's reworked the bump stops to use a stiffer compound.

I like my Timbren bump stops and I believe they are covered by lifetime warranty. They made quite a bit of difference in the forest roads when compared to the OEM ones.

A pair of hydraulic bump stops from Kings are in the neighborhood of 850 or so with the mount is included, around 500 or so for just the pair when I had last looked into them. I guess in the rear one could almost bolt them straight on? But in the front, I think a custom holder may be needed?

I found this video from Timmy the Toolman about a new line of Toyota bump stops from DuroBumps - Toyota Bump Stops for 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra, FJ Cruiser

It might be worth contacting this company to determine the availability of 100 series bump stops and to let them know about the cross-compatibility with a 4th gen 4Runner.

Check it out.

i ordered my timbrens for the rear, but those duros look like they might work for our fronts. I have some amazon "universal" bumpstops on the way and i am gonna experiment with a couple of them.

I got my Wheeler front bump stops in yesterday and put them on, these things look huge! One thing to keep in mind is this have way more give if you will then the stock ones so they are not going to limit upward wheel travel as much as they look like they will. I will get them out on the trail soon and report back how well they work for controlling 35's. I also ordered the 1/4 inch spacer to throw in also.

Just a slight difference!

I wheeled my 100 this weekend in Wyo. Might have hit a big whoops a little too quickly.... Even the Timbrens couldn't keep me from breaking off both remote reservoir brackets.... Oh and then dragging them for about a 10th of a mile before I realized what happened. Whoops.

Anyone tried Rav4 bump stops? Big Difference in price $44 delivered vs others starting at $185.

Im confused. How many bump stops does the front need for 02 lx470? 2 or 4? If 4, are they are different location or stacked on top of each other?

I read someone say the front can be stacked?

There are 4 stock bumstops on the front, but seems like everyone (myself included) tend to only replace the 2 in the forward most position

I have gone ahead and ordered the Duro bumps, probably have them in ~ 8 weeks.

Keep us posted. Which model Durobumps did you order?

With the TIMBREN TOFTUN4 you only install a single set on the front, at the forward bump stop position.

If you install a set on the at the rear bump stop location, you'll be riding on the Timbren, not the torsion bar. That will make for one bouncy ride.

The instructions from Timbren tell you to remove the rear bump stop, and leave it off.

Interesting info.

This isn't accurate for what I understand. I have 4 Timbren bumps on the front and it is actually a really nice ride. I do not find the ride to be bouncy at all. It is smooth and buttery awesomeness. The issue as I understand it is using 2 Timbrens per LCA allows the lower ball joint to over articulate. This can lead to damage of the ball joint if the vehicle front bottoms out. This presents the biggest issue with higher speed driving where it is possible to bottom out. I would be especially concerned if you were now only using 1 bump stop per LCA.

@spressomon can you help at all with this? I would take any feedback you have on this to the bank as you are one of the few fellow people who use your truck HARD. Didn't you have an issue with this? Are you still running 1 factory and 1 Timbren? If so, in what position did you place them? Factory rear and Timbren front on the LCA? Are you running Timbrens in the rear Spresso?
