There is a junk yard in town that said he has 3-4 Discos so I am going over there today to see if there are any of these cup-holders in them. Anyone interested if they have a few. You pay what I pay plus shipping. I am in Austin 78749. AustinCruiser said he got his dirt cheap so I am looking for the same junkyard deal.

No luck at the junk yard.

The best price I have found is 2 for $50 + shipping. I need a grey one is anyone interested in splitting an order?

I got really luck with mine. The parts counter guy couldn't care less about it and practically gave it to me. I'll keep my eyes open for more wrecked Discos.

Thanks Ed

For those of us who aren't latte sipping nancys, Toyota included a perfectly good canteen holder in their design that so far has stood up to the rigour of offroad driving.

It also works with manual transmissions, no fouling of the gearstick.

I didn't see anything definitive on this thread re: installation, so I did a little searching, and this is what I came up with. Hope this helps!

- The OFFICIAL cupholders thread: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/204484-cupholders.html

- More info on the LandRover cupholder: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/177644-land-rover-disco-cupholder.html

- A vendor that sells the LandRover cupholders both individually and in pairs: Land Rover Range Discovery Genuine OEM Factory Cup Holders

My only concern is that it seems like you have to drill a new hole to install this cupholder. I'm not so keen on doing so. I did notice that there's an OEM screw in the center console pretty far back, and I'm curious if the cupholder could be installed there (since that's a pre-existing hole).

i've got grouchos cupholders and i love those. the disco ones are too funky looking for me. don't like the round look, plus knowing rovers reputation and working with a former rover parts manager, i don't expect them to last ;)

Mine's disco cup holder has been holding up just fine. It's definitely one of my most useful interior mods. Seems a heck of a lot more useful and durable than the dinky OEM slot cup holder.

While that's an interesting mod, this is the mod that everyone really needs

:grinpimp:

I wonder if we could grill on that intercooler?:hillbilly:

Ive been in the Army my entire life, and I would NOT use one of those canteens.

On the brake pad issue, I have a discovery as well as the cruiser, and the rear pads on the Disco are 108.00 at the dealer, and the fronts are 145.00. Dirt cheap, which is one of the MANY reasons I have a cruiser now.

I have a tan one with insert for sale. I bought the pair but only using one. 30 shipped if interested PM me.

And sold in about 10 minutes

I've got two installed - both on the passenger side of the center console - it is the only place that I could put them both in with enough clearance for use. Easy to access for both driver and passenger. I'll see if I can get some pics of them up. I put the OEM slot cup holder in first but it is only a bit better than not having one at all. The Discovery cupholders are the perfect size and can also hold Nalgene Bottles (the large mouth 32oz camping bottles) when you remove the rubber liner.

As for the stock cupholders - I finally figured out what the square shape was intended to hold - children's milk cartons! Small milk must have been HUGE in Japan back in the 90's, only explanation for it... I'll post a pic of that as well.

Mounting them is super obvious and really needs no explanation but since it was asked:
two holes per holder
check the fitment to make sure you have good clearance above to get the cups out
mark your spots and drill a pilot hole
then insert the screws in the holes
righty tighty, lefty loosy
duh-huh

I know that this has been covered elsewhere on 'Mud, but this cupholder deserves another mention. Every cruiser needs one of these Disco cup holders. I found a rolled Disco and took this out of it. It is a direct fit to my shifter console. All that I had to do make it level was add a rubber washer to the bottom fastener. I just wish that the second one didn't get crushed in the roll over. Now the search is on for cupholder #2. The gray is a perfect match as well.

Why is there a Caution! icon and a "RTFM" (Read The ****ing Manual) icon on a cupholder? Is it that hard to figure out?

I think that the mall crawling crowd needs the extra guidance so that they don't burn themselves with their venti soy chai lattes.

On another note: I wasn't able to fit my other cupholder on the driver's side, so I put it on the passenger side. The cupholders aren't perfectly level, but they work. ************
