The black wire may be the temp sensor wire. I don't see a temp sensor in your pic. Should be on the drivers side of the head in the rear.
The 2 pin connector on the drivers side connects to the windshied washer pump. You may also find another two bullet connectors in that area.

Well we have been gathering parts all summer and now it is time to start our father/son project. We started the shackle reverse today. We fabbed new front spring hangers (3 1/2x 3 1/2 x .250 square tube) and shackles plates (3/8 x 2" strap).Wyatt removed the front shackles and we burned out the rivets holding the old brackets on the frame. The old upper shackle mounts were cut down saving the tube portion (see pic), which will become the new rear upper shackle mount going through the frame. After several measurements were taken and retaken and yet again, the front mounts were welded on.
Thank yous go out to Orangefj45, Landcrusher909, Wasabi, Poser, lshobie, Couldbeworse and Rockrawler for the help with our parts gathering.
This all that was left of the driver side frame Bushing. No wonder this car was all over the road, between the poor caster angle, loose steering and lack of bushings all added up to OH MY GOSH, HANG ON driving.
We are going to be in California City riding that weekend. And yes, I am welding plates to both sides of the frame rails and I welding on a bumper I made for Snotz. It will be very stout!!
Today I was able to finish the shackle reversal. I took my measurement from the center of the front spring bolt and measured back 40 1/2 ", then measured 1 1/4" up from the bottom of the frame rail, this gave me the point for the upper shackle mount. I first drilled a pilot hole with a #10 drill, followed up with a 1 3/8" hole saw. On the inside frame rail I will need to fill the factory holes, the new shackle mounts are only supported on the bottom half of the hole I made. On the passenger side frame rail I will need to modify the gas line, I had to unbolt the clamp holding it to the frame to let the shackle fit.
Today I installed the rear disc conversion. I ended up cutting the drum backing plates off with the plasma, as I did not want to open the rear axle yet. The brackets and calipers bolted right up. It took longer for the paint to dry than to install the brackets and calipers!! Wyatt removed the shocks and old manual steering components, getting ready for his PS conversion install. He also learned how to use a pickle fork to remove the rod ends. While he was busy with that task, I did the "cut" for the "cut and turn" of the front housing. I marked my cut with electrical tape so I would not wander as I made my way around the tube. Using a depth gauge, I kept the cut just short of .250", then I made a reference mark on the top of each side for caster measurements.
