The finished job......WHEW!!!!
the SOA looks nice! good job! Also good job on the purchase for your boy!
I recently started my insanity by buying my 13 year old a 72 FJ. But our was not as complete as yours. In fact it is barely a rolling chassis, no motor and everything being hung to the frame with the bare minimum amount of fastners.
Well his 17 year old sister got "jealous" so I found a second FJ, this time with a motor, basically complete, but being in the midwest…it is riddled with Rust.
So now I have three projects I am working on (if you count my tacoma).
Our goals on both the FJ's are
SOA's,
tube fenders
capable trail rigs
complete body reconditions
on the son's we are putting a Ford 302 in it with an auto behind it. Dana 44 rear axle with a disc converted front land cruiser axle. Full comp interior roll cage. riding on 33" tires.
corner armor with sliders and other varius protection (he is a boy after all…I expect him to be more adventous than the girl)
on the daughters we are sticking with the 2f motor with 4 speed, trying to keep the stock appearence as much as possible with the exception of corner armor, sliders and 31-33" tires (she really wants to put 35" on it.
Her FJ also came with soft doors and a bikini top (the arguements are already starting over who gets to use it)
I am trying to let them make most of the decisions on what parts to put on their personal rig etc, just guiding them in the right direction. So in other words, their complete plans for their rigs are not complete.
