is there anywhere i can look up online to check up the year of my block? or maybe its hidden in the the number on the block?

:confused:The engine number is right behind the distributor, stamped onto a flat machined surface. The date of manufacture is on the driver's side of the block, cast into it.
SOR has a page devoted to engine serial numbers as they relate to the date.
Specter Off-Road, Inc.-Landcruiser Parts & Accessories -Engine Serial Numbers

The block pictured was cast on December 18, 1976(6=year...1976, 12=December, 18=day of the month)

:hhmm:All I see is the Shroud of Turin;)

Maybe it applies only to 2Fs? Either that or yours was cast on November 14, 1971
That would mean the "code" changed....but the short answer is...I don't know.:o

Cooler, trying to decode the 10 digit Toyota part number as a date is not gonna work.

Date code is at the opposite end of the block from the part number. Look for the smaller typeface 5 digit number toward the front of the block.

Here is a place to start. I seem to recall seeing someplace more serial numbers for later years.

SOR Engine Numbers.

OK, Jim that block number is 10210. (Feb,71 10th day?)

I did look up the engine number (F342050) on SOR long ago. SOR says it's a Feb or March 71. I had just never heard of the block date casting number. Still learning guys...
