Engine stand for 1fze (1 Viewer)

So I have an engine I need to put on a stand. Would a 750 pound stand suffice? Do I need a thousand pound stand?

This engine is fully dressed by the way.

Is there a 1fze engine stand bolt kit available?

I would highly recommend a 1 ton HF stand. The 4 wheels makes it a bitch to transfer to/from cherry picker, but not too scary. It was very stable, although any stand will wiggle a bit. I was comfortable working with it. Expect to pay about $130 from HF.
For bolts, you want:
3 ea: M12 x 1.25mm x 90mm
1 ea: M12 x 1.25mm x 120mm
1 ea: M12 x 1.25mm Nut, hex plain
10 ea: 12mm flat washers, thin rim (24mm OD)

That's what I bought from AAA Metric in Denver. Shipped, for much cheaper than I could have driven there.

Look in my sig thread and you'll see a real good positioning for the engine stand arms. It worked for me. Beware, it will get off center as you tear it down! Make sure you got a good handle on it! It's a heavy damn piece of iron!

I had a 750# stand and I thought about it for a second. Nah, not worth the risk. Maybe to store the engine and not move it at all? Maybe.

Agree. We have a 2f that was pretty loaded when we mounted it on the stand that the owner supplied. It is a different brand, but it is comparable to the HF 1000 stand. Too bad you didn't look at it the other day when you dropped by. John

Anything with four wheels will work fine. Three wheels would be an accident waiting to happen.

1250lb rated, should be good right? I have heard unhappy stored of floppy engine stands.

That's the one I own. My only complaint is it can be hard to rotate the engine without a helper.

Ahh. Thanks, I was reading to replace the rotator bar with a much longer one for that issue.

Yea it held the 1fz no problem and plan to use it on my 1f when I tear into the 40.

This is what my other 1FZ is currently on. As stated above, it is kinda hard to rotate but doable.

The 1 ton harbor freight are really stout but the design makes it difficult to mount the engine from a hoist. I have 5-6 of the 1k HF stands and they work fine with a completely dressed engine. They are bouncy and can be braced easily if you wanted to upgrade/modify. I have 3 or 4 long blocks on right now and have zero issues. A long block weighs just shy of 600lbs, short block weighs 320lbs.

You see the black part that the engine bolts to? Grease that tube up good before you slide it into the red engine stand and the thing turns easy as can be. And I'm 78 years old with bad hands and arthritic shoulders and even I could do it. I need help pulling spark plug boots off, but I can rotate the engine slick as could be
