My engine mounts have gone and in Argentina the Toyota dealer doesn't list them.

part number: 12361-56031

some online US Toyota part sellers have them for between 58 and 64 US$. But Argentina levies hefty import duties... 50%

So I have a friend coming to visit us from Canada.

I find out that the same part in Canada with Toyota will cost: 143 CAN$

Does anybody have any idea if parts shipped from US to Canada will have to pay customs ed?

I want the US$ 60 part from the US....

I think I didn't explain to well, or you didn't read to well...
 
oh ! I didn't read it properly . where in canada is your friend .there is a few guys local to me who may have something . i think there will be duty for it ,and if it says anything about made in japan .or has toyota on the packaging .they might charge a huge duty + taxes ,but i am know to be wrong .
try these guys they might no more .they bring in tons of parts . or maybe someone from the U.S. can mail you one as a gift . just a thought .

The odds are good that Canada Customs will slap some charges onto the parts if shipped up from the US ,however on a $60 item, it will amount to around $15-20 at the most, so you would still be way ahead of buying the parts from Toyota Canada.

Why not try and source them from Australia or Japan?
 
I'm trying to get them from the US, but now they say, they are on backorder and it will take them 3 weeks to get to Canada.... :-(

My friend will arrive on 6th of November in Buenos Aires... So this wont work out.

Getting the parts to Argentina is the real problem. If my friend brings it, there is no problem, but shipping into Argentina!!!! Oef they will bring 50 or 60% import tax. So getting them from Japan or Us into Argentina is sure to be way to expensive for a pair of rubbers....

On the Argentinian 4x4 forum they try to help hard. Even there is talk of rebuilding the mounts?

Any thoughts on that?

can you ask around? I have a friend in Santiago, that is going to drive down to Ushuaia to meet me in a few days...

I checked the Chilian Toyota dealer. And he has to order them [at least 15 days] and the parts will be 70.000 $ for 1 [is 140 US$]. So that is not an option...

That is the same answer I got from 3 dealers here in Santiago.
 
hmmm. maybe if we'd scrape of the last digits, and put some other numbers there.. The enging will think it is the part it needs.... :-)

But no, I don't think they will work, of course, I'm no expert on this, but I don't think so
 
Got them!!!!!

Our new friend Dan from 4wheelauto has them in stock and sends them to our friend in Montreal!!!!

I could cry so happy I am...
 
anybody know's if this is DIY?
I mean I just have to lift the engine a little right? No disassemble job! Not getting the engine removed or the transfers...
Can I do this with standard tools?
