I can't get hardly anything thru my old cobra CB so yeah, let's do it!

Finally got around to putting the 80 steering gear box in I had laying on the garage floor. It went in pretty easy. Only issue I see is since the 80 box is a tad bigger the steering column shaft doesn't seam to fit just right. The yoke of the steering u-joints are right up to the body of the box now.

I'm also a bit leery that I may have not set the box right at center. Need to go check it this morning. Worked until dark last night. Need to add fluid and test drive next. Seams like the lock to lock favors turning right more than left.

I was curious about going to an 80s box when mine was leaking but opted to rebuild mine and tap for hydro assist.
Ive got the same Husky tool set.

Sup Hojack!

Running big tires just seams to beat on everything a bit harder. I was shocked at how many loose bolts I had to tighten back up under there.

I think we all ran out and bought that tool kit when it got posted on mud. Super good deal. Wish I would have bought two. One as a travel kit.

As suspected... I had to pull the pitman arm again and turn the steering wheel a half turn to the right. It could probably use one more slight adjustment but I’m pretty good with it.

As far as driving... Not a huge noticeable difference, just feels solid like it should. the big one for me, no more leaking!

Such as great feeling Joe to get leaks fixed. I’ve been chasing mine from reman parts that fail, thankfully their still covered under warranty.

Did you buy new or used 4Runner wiper arms?
Jason

Jason, Totally... Steering gear has been leaking for more than a year now. So glad that's done. Now I just need to do the H55 swap and get at least a rear locker.

I bought the wipers new... Go back a page (Post #336 I think) for part numbers. The rear blade I bought (it's on the left in the photo) is to long. The arm worked fine but I ended up using the stock rear blade as wear wasn't an issue with that one and the length being wrong.

Did both the LH wipers work. I found a RH but it’s more money.
LH $49.34
RH $62.36

Jason,
Excuse my ignorance... LH, RH?

When I looked them up I see there’s a RH, right hand and LH, left hand. If both these LH work then I’ll get them as is cheaper. Than one LH and one RH... make sense???:idea::lol::hmm:

Ohhhhh... I never even noticed that. Yes, LH seemingly works just fine.

So as it turns out... The new CSF2708 radiator WAS leaking. Not sure if it sprung a leak before I took it to have pressure tested or after. Sprung a hole right at the top (right under the blue tape in the pic below)... In front. Luckily it was under warranty. So Rock Auto.com sent me another one... That one was damaged in shipping so after a whole bunch of emailing them to get it straightened out, I got another new CSF2708. So far so good... I think...

I'm about to give it a run up Hwy 80 to Nevada City. This should tell the true tale of this new radiator. If it runs hot at the INNOUT burger in Auburn It's something else.

Wish me luck...

Just got to Nevada City and stopped at the INNOUT in Auburn on the way here... Temp read totally normal the whole way and it was almost 85°F out going up the grade on I80 to Hwy 49. I had the AC on intermittently. Think I’ll go find a trail in the morning and give her an old fashion work out.

Met up with a SoCal Jeep buddy last week cause my Toyota friends all sucked that weekend. We camped and wheeled for 2 days in the Sierra’s, East of Clovis.

Camping was not the priority on this trip. Wheelin was... No wives, No kids... We slept in our rigs and I only brought some kitchen gear, a small cooler and my dog.

Got a little road rash here... Elma is no longer a perfect specimen... Time to start thinking about some armor.

Met this cool dude from the bay on the trail as well. He stacked rocks for me cause my buddy was to lazy to get out of his fancy AC tinted window Jeep. This minivan wheeled like no ones business. It was awesome. The thing is triple locked.

The Jeep is darn well capable though. Super charged, front/rear locked. I only saw 100 of them up there that looked just like it.

Cpl more....

This is my dog El Jefe. This was probably his last wheeling trip. He's getting to old these days to be bouncing around the backseat. But he sure loves being in the woods.

Inspired by a cpl of you here. @tmxmotorsports @NeverGiveUpYota i went and got me a beater 22re pickup. It’s my new favorite play thing.

It needs a little mechanical work and plenty of cosmetic work (that I have no intention on doing) but it’s a pretty solid runner. Most important for me is the roof rack.

Since I won’t be going to work for at least 6 more months (I work in Live events) I bought this to build a lil house in my backyard. I keep telling my wife I’ll sell it right when I finish the project but man this lil thing is already growing on me.

My 6 year old daughter and I have agreed on the name Ruby... Ruby the red truck. Ok ok it’s more burgundy but oh well....
