I searched but theres so many variations of this issue so Im taking a stab here.

Did my PHH last night, had the negative unhooked on the battery and left it undone all night (i finished at 12am so was not coherent). Buttoned up the truck this AM, reconnect the negative, filled coolant and started it, all ok. Had it idling for a little with the heater high to get air out of the system with rad cap off. I drove it maybe a quarter mile then back and shut it down.

I went to start it again after roughly 15 minutes, there was power but then on start, it just made a loud spark sort of noise. No click from the starter.

Im guessing the starter relay got fried? Is the starter toast? anyone else have this happen? I tried jumping it, same problem.

After attempting to start it just goes dead. I have to leave it alone for 15 minutes and come back to find the same issue, electronics all work as they should. I checked all fuses and they seem ok. Is it the fusible link (little to no knowledge here so be kind).

Thank you in advance for any insults or help thrown my way.

I'm a little confused about your issue.

Are you saying the 'Starter' will not activate to crank the engine OR that the engine will not start/or run?

IF you are not getting any action from the starter, then begin with the fundamentals. (Check your grounds, check connections to the battery and the starter). If you get no noise, or just a click from the starter when turning the key AND you are sure the battery is good and the connections good...then most likely the contacts on the starter solenoid need to be replaced (about $20.00 of parts).

IF the engine will 'crank' but not actually start or continue to run, that is different matter and we would need to determine if the issue is with 'spark' or 'fuel' or 'vacuum leaks' etc.....

Its the former. Absolutely no movement from starter. Battery seems good.

What is confusing is i cant get electronics on after trying, it basically kills the car after i hit the starter. I wait 15 mins and it has power again.

Might want to replace the fusible link. They are inexpensive, easy to replace and you need to keep a 'spare' one with you anyway.

^Agreed. Bet you $20 its the fusible link.

Thanks everyone, had some time to look at it and its the terminals. Cleaned and tightened. I also got new fusible links and block assembly so ill put those on when they are delivered.
