Is the edic arm going to off/on/off/on continuously?

Yap .. yes it is ..

LAst time that I have this issue my alt ( not seen any warling light ) it's diying .. actually I have ground from engine block to frame and body .. but just to check how it's all around the rellay ..

Maybe some humidity it's pretty reini these days here ..

did a quick series of photos on my EDIC repair, you can see it at
http://www.sandcruiser.com/07pics/edic/edic.html

nothing fancy, just shows some of the internals of the EDIC motor and the EDIC relay

I think most of my "repair" on the motor was simply bending the springy little arms on the contact terminals up so that they do a better job of contacting the plate the spins around (look at the pics, it'll make more sense, I promise)

The one time I had this happen to my 2H recently it was humidity generating a flow at the low oil shutoff. The tabs were bent very clse together, and when water got into the gap it shorted it out for a fraction of a second, and the edic almost shut off the engine.
look at that connection...

cheers,

Thanks for this advice .. coul be all in all I get at least 30 PSI at idle in my VDO oil press mechanical gauge .. ( actually disctonected my factory oil "gauge" in the dash )

I meant that the oil pressure is just fine, just the sensor is shortening out with the humidity.

so the EDIC isn't working anymore. Haven't torn it apart (again) to see what's up.... but I think it is about time.

If anyone out there has any new thoughts, send them my way!

Man, what I wouldn't do for an hour in Radio Shack or somewhere like that ... :(

I had trouble with both my edic control relay box and the edic motor. I found a couple of the printed circuit 'wires' that had cracked on the back of the board. I traced the circuit and soldered in a small wire between the two terminals to replace the printed 'wire'. Works great. The edic motor would jump around occasionally and try to kill the engine or belch smoke from overfuel setting. I disassembled the control housing, cleaned the contacts with an electronics cleaner, relubed the gears and haven't had a problem since.

seems it would be best just to take the EIC out of the equation and go manual. Put in a oil pressure switch buzzer and no need for the edic to shut the engine off if it looses oil pressure. Just turn the engine off and be done with it. Of course, the manual method in addition to the EDIC would be a good backup in the event the EDIC fails in the middle of no where.

most folks prefer to have a functional Edic so that when you turn off the key, the vehicle shuts off.
I'm sure it could be rigged to work some other way-- I've seen it suggested that an electric "pusher" for a door lock would work.

So why not post it up for others over there, even site visitors. cheers:hillbilly:

I only have his cell number, and

I think it is his only phone.

I am sure his family/wife doesn't want his cell ringing off the hook at all hours.

I'd hope he wouldn't post my cell number on the www either
