Wow! Had no idea that the motor could actually run backwards. Am I to understand that the exhaust goes through the intake and the fresh air comes in through the tail pipe? I have to try to visualize and wrapp my head around this.

Correct.

Intake becomes exhaust
Exhaust becomes intake
Your 5 forward gears all become reverse gears, and you'll have a single forward gear.

Knew about the gears but didn't think far ahead enough to figure the motor intake and exhaust would shift!
