While looking for some part numbers for another member, I noticed the dates on these. The repair manual is dated 1964 and is twice as thick as any of my other manuals/books. The transmission is dated 1964 on the cover and 1963 on the inside. They came with my 66 FJ45. Has anyone seen these before?

I have a 1971 version of the Repair Manual that i have had since 1992. One of my favorite books, covers a lot in one book. Both of yours are in great condition.
Never have seen the Tranny transfer book before, thats cool.
I have this one in my collection also.

I have an early 65 as well, but never seen the trans, transfer case manual! Super cool and rare!!

Hey Whitey, thanks for the info. I've never seen the transmission/transfer one either.
I just realized I had these and started looking at the dates on them. The thick repair manual is an odd duck.... Lots of information in it as you know. A few pages are stuck together from moisture I presume so I need to find the best way to free up... Maybe a hand held steamer...

John, looks like you have some earlier ones, very cool. Do you have any history on these?

I have the same set. The thick early manual contains the correct information for the side shift 1961-1962 transmissions. I believe the trans manual was created because of those slight changes that occurred in 1963.

Well I’m here to attest that those (Mark’s) manuals are priceless.

If I owned one or more of them, they’d be locked in my safe!

Splangy, that makes sense. I did notice that the thick manual also has is a really good break down of the SD40 carburetor and several other systems. Most of my other books seem to be somewhat inferior to this one in terms of detail.

Thanks for the information...
Mark

Mark, a few years ago the local dealership sold me their whole Land Cruiser library. This was from Stancils Toyota in Placerville, Calif. One of the first importers of Toyota's in the USA. Anyone own a 1964 Tiara 1600?

John, that's fantastic.... I also am fortunate to have got one of the old local dealers books. Here is a few oddballs...Carona and Crown...I love looking at old print stuff.
Bit of an oddball myself..
