I just took possession of some early FJ40/43/45/55 micro fiche. I also have the reader. If anyone is needing some information, just let me know. I am willing to donate this stuff if someone has the means to store it.

This micro fiche is from a Toyota dealer who wanted to donate it to us, not to mention they don't use it any more. Anyone have some thoughts about where or who would be great caretakers of this for our group?

Mark

Thanks

Old guys... might forget they have it... but would know how to use it.

Young guys... would want it all digitized and available on their mobile device.

I know a really good middle of the roader... but I'm not in the habit of volunteering someone else!

Oh so true....

Thanks for the mention, but I'm out. I'm so old I only use books where I can turn the pages, and about two steps beyond speaking with folks using tin cans and string.

I do have a microfiche machine and a collection of various sets including some newer episodes 80 Series stuff. I'd be more than happy to house this stuff if deemed appropriate and can always make it available to the public and look into digitizing it.

The LCH Museum could be another neat idea. I know it has a huge collection of manuals and fiche so I don't know how this would fit in to the current collection and what outlay it would have for the public to use.

Kurt, if you want to house it, I think that would be great, Thank You. I know a lot of us "old timers" I won't mention any names, have the original parts books but this may be very helpful to others. I think there is some early 80's HiLux truck stuff and some 4Runner stuff as well. I will get this sent out to you when I return.

Thanks for offering to house this stuff. I just don't have the space for it and didn't want it to be thrown out.

Bear, Johnny c, Pardion,Litp, Pimp, tahoe45, clemson,d Watters all could be good caretakers!!
Thanks Whitey, I'm honored to be mentioned with those other names.
I think names mentioned and or other Mud members with the love of the history and providing information for Land Cruisers would be great caretakers.
I think digitizing it would be a great idea, not sure how fragile the microfiche are but my first thought would be, the less in and out of sleeves and movement would keep the originals around longer.
Looking forward to seeing what happens.

Kurt, sent you a pm. This is what it's all about helping others with our love of Land Cruisers. Another reason to be Thankful.....

Thanks again....

Mark

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

I have all the fisch stuff going back very far(think fj25) and as recent as they were last made(80 series I tbink). 15 years ago you could buy the fisch($5 or 10), I posted the part # and contact info) my dealer gave all there stuff to me years ago, all parts books(not just cruisers ). one of the title companys gave me and old fisch reader thst prints....it won't print anymore and it's HUGE and for some.reason it went in the attic(lol). I need a small reader....

Microfisch was how we looked up property records for decades.....I don't miss it. we also use to get a huge book once a week with all the homes for sale...Might get 1 BW pic....stI'll have some

But the fisch is the exact same as a.paper parts book and for the most part unless it has a 10 digit # it's worth less except for the diagrams. years ago there was a guy at Toyota in CA that could.convert the old # and actaully able to order parts or give us an updated part.

Love to them go digital though

I got microfiche long before I acquired the books, so my first instinct is to turn on the reader. I am on my 3rd reader. : old:
