early 40 softops

is/was there a soft top for the high post style hard tops?

Aftermarket tops say they don't fit the early years, however the hardtop tub is dimensonally close enough to the later 40..............other than the door pillars. That's why many just got chopped off.

i was thinking more of a factory soft top that would go with the tall post.

i have yet to see one for the high post.

The third pic is why I wasn't going to say one didn't exist.

Same thing applies though, without the door pillars there's no reason you couldn't use a factory style soft top from a later 40.

I bought a Paki Top and bows from a member here on mud and I am in the process on installing it on my 1962 factory hard top (high post). What I did to make it work was rather than cutting the tub I found it less nerve racking to trim the paki bows to fit the high post. I haven't finshed the install yet but I test fitted the top and every thing seems to fit fine.

great idea on cutting the bows to work...if anybody else does this mod ...they just need to remember to leave the 'channel' intact for the lower section of canvas to slide into.
