E rated tires

Huh... I just experienced the exact opposite. I had stock 275/60/18 Michelin Latitude HPs - a "Luxury SUV Tire" on my '06. I thought they rode like s***. I ran them as low as 32 psi and still thought they were awful.

I read and read - this forum, other forums... I was very nervous about going from stock passenger tires to full-on E-rated truck tires. I bought BFG ATs - 275/70/18.

As I drove away from Discount Tire, I probably looked like I was waiting for a balloon to pop - almost cringing as I approached the first bump - a concrete apron. Nothing, I felt nothing. I settled down. I sped up and aimed for pot holes. Nothing. I got on the highway and sped up to 80. I saw an expansion joint and thought "Wait for it... wait for it". It felt like running over a shadow. You can imagine how happy I was - and am, 500 miles later.

The BFG ATs are MUCH more comfortable and just as quiet (that's got to because of the 100) as the Michelins.

I have the exact same tire and size. I thought it (the stiffness) was a welcome improvement from the boat ride that it was out of the factory. Now add OME bars and 866 springs and it's a little more stiff, but not objectionable. I'd say stick with it, at least for the trial period.

Holy OverInflation!

I know better than to trust the tire installer to know what pressure is needed, but alas, I did not check until today. And the magic number was.... 45 psi. Why do they think the pressure on the sidewall is the recommended in-service pressure (rhetorical). Dropped it down to 37 psi and it made all the difference in the world. Nice tires afterall. Thanks for the responses.

I set mine to 11. Because it's higher than 10.
